The small group strolled along the road while Mortis and Helga sat in the carriage. Now that they were far away from villages and towns, Mortis noticed for the first time how dark the night really was here. Unlike in his old world, where there was almost always some light breaking through the darkness. The others moved closer to Mortis, forming a chain that moved through the darkness as if it were day. This gave the others a sense of security. In the spirit realm, there was always the same brightness, as if time were frozen there. Fortunately, Mortis was able to adjust his eyes to this environment to detect living creatures near him.
After two hours, they took a short rest under a large tree surrounded by dense bushes, which gave them at least a little protection from being attacked from all sides.
°Nearby is a cemetery. It is untouched so far, but you could still affect it before it might be changed in the future. We could also find a safe place to sleep there. You should really get some rest.° "That sounds good. Can you mark it on my map?" asked Mortis in thought. °It's already done.°
Mortis took a few steps and pulled out the small map he had used for his previous quest. Then he explained to the others that he had found a place where they could spend the night. They stowed their supplies and followed Mortis. Julia was surprised that there were no villages or farms in this area, so she asked where they could spend the night. "Just come with me. It will be unusual for you, but it's dry, and we have a roof over our heads up there."
After 30 minutes they reached the gate of the cemetery, which surprised the others. Before they could say anything, Mortis entered the cemetery as if he were at home there. Then he led the group to the crypt.
Once inside the crypt, he parked the group and explained that he would open the door in a moment. Then he went around the corner and disappeared briefly.
There was no door in the spirit realm. Therefore, he entered and immediately went to the basement. There he smashed the sculpture of Osmirnis, put his hands on the pedestal and prayed to Death. A sculpture of Death appeared a moment later. A flash of light illuminated everything, and everything that reminded of Osmirnis turned into an image of Death.
°Quest received: Change all of Osmirnis' graveyards into a place of peace to lessen Osmirnis' influence. For each liberated cemetery, you will receive a secret reward.° "Yes, I want that." °Low Potion of Charisma +3. That won't do much.°
Now Mortis could open the door and let the others in. Then he explained to them that he would be back in five minutes. He quickly went around the corner and disappeared.
In the crypt there were some benches where they sat down. They had many questions for Mortis, but did not dare to ask them. Helga was convinced that he would eventually open up to them. Helga and Mortis took clothes and blankets to make a bed. For both of them, since Mortis was already used to Helga sleeping next to him.
Before they fell asleep, he gave Helga a potion to enhance her beauty. What would happen to her child, he would not know for a few years. But who didn't want to have a pretty companion? She lay down next to him and complained of a slight pain in her stomach. Mortis then turned to her, put his arm around her and stroked his hand under her robe so that she was lying on her stomach.
Then Helga began to sob. She held his hand and said softly, "I never wanted to get pregnant by him. Why don't I have your child in my belly? Can I even love it?"
Mortis spoke softly, "I am with you, and we will make this work. Besides, you could always bear me ten children after this." He rose slightly, leaned over her and kissed her on the cheek. She nodded and snuggled closer to Mortis, who wanted to feel her closeness. Then she fell asleep while whispering that she loved him.
Mortis wasn't sure how to respond. He had grown fond of her too, but he would not get rid of old thoughts of the body so quickly. But he knew one thing for sure: he wanted to help her. Therefore, he gave her a kiss to make her feel safe.
When Mortis woke up, he found a huge melon in his hand and two small breasts pressed against his back. He could hardly hold back his urges, his cock already straightening towards Helga's pleasure cavity. She noticed it, of course, since she had been awake for a long time, enjoying how Mortis massaged her breasts in her sleep.
"Damn!" exclaimed Mortis. He jumped up and ran out while quickly grabbing his things. Julia asked in wonder what had happened, while Helga laughed. As she quickly turned around, she noticed Mortis' gaze. Helga laughed softly and joked, "You really can't help it, can you?" Mortis couldn't help but blush slightly, and he quickly left the room to cool off a bit outside.
The others looked at each other in confusion, while Julia grinned mischievously. "What did you do?" she whispered to Helga. Helga laughed and said, "Well, if he's going to react like that, why not have a little fun?" Julia shook her head with a smile and said, "You two are really cute together."
Mortis, meanwhile, had calmed down and returned to join in. By now, the crypt was filled with a peaceful atmosphere, and the changes Mortis had made radiated calm.
After a while, they set off again to reach Grünheim before nightfall. Mortis pondered how best to keep the others happy, while wondering why he cared about them at all. But he also realized that, despite his recklessness, he had some responsibility to the group.
As they walked along, Mortis pulled out his card and looked in his store. The offerings had changed, and he wondered what he could afford next. "Look, there are some new potions and equipment available here," he said, showing his card to the others.
Julia and Helga were impressed with the new offerings, and Amir and his wife also showed interest. "Maybe we could buy some of these potions later," Amir suggested. Mortis nodded in agreement and added, "Yes, this could certainly help us on our journey."
The group continued their journey and the sun slowly began to set. They hoped to find a carriage or some other means of transportation to move faster. After hours of wandering, they finally found a place to rest.
Mortis took the opportunity to take a closer look at his store. The prices of the items had changed, and he pondered how best to invest his souls. It was a difficult decision, since there were so many options.
Meanwhile, the others sat and talked as darkness slowly fell. Helga and Julia exchanged stories, and Amir and his wife had animated conversations. Mortis listened to their conversations as he considered how best to use his skills and resources to protect them all.
Night fell, and they prepared to spend the night in this place. Mortis and Helga made a cozy camp of blankets and pillows, while the others also lay down to rest. The darkness of the night enveloped them, and the stars shone in the sky.
