Chapter 113 - Chance to Dream

Underneath the lifted silk, there were tons of suitcases and other boxes that were stacked neatly, and Sonya began to pull them all out with the help of Vincent. Stone stood off to the side because Sonya gave him a walkie right before they entered the storage area for some business that she wasn't able to overhear.

With a hushed voice, Stone spoke quietly into the walkie before the voice started to rise in irritation as he kept on having to repeat himself making Lucia stick her tongue out at him and him shaking his head at her.

Sonya patted Charlotte's back, and Charlotte turned to the side to tilt her head down a bit since Sonya was bit shorter than she was. But one couldn't even tell due to her spectacular body proportions. "Yes?"

"We need to get you and Lucia cleaned up," Sonya whispered. "I can smell the blood on you."

"It's not mine," Charlotte responded as she lifted the dress away from her skin as some places were still wet and sticky. "I would be grateful."

Lucia came over to them after her job of being spiteful towards Stone was done, and Sonya smiled. "Your name is Lucia, isn't it?"

Lucia dipped her head in greeting. "Yes."

"I heard about the circumstances," Sonya said. "All I can hope for you girls is your freedom afterward."

Charlotte gave her a solemn look. "I have already realized."

Lucia sent a look over to Charlotte. "My dream of freedom seems to be long gone."

"You can never stop dreaming, dear," Sonya chided softly. "I'll take you ladies to the dressing room in a second."

Charlotte went over to help Sonya grab all of the bags to the side only for her to take a peek into an open box to see a ton of weapons. Except they seemed a lot different. Much more dangerous in a way.

The weapons were curved with crystals embedded into the hilt, but the weapons also seemed as if they had gone through eons of a lifetime. It was the distinction that the age of the weapons had also gone up with the age of the vampires.

Charlotte was curious enough to lift a dagger that had lots of black bands wrapped around the hilt, and she looked over to Vincent with her brows together.

"What are these weapons?" Charlotte asked.

"In particular for the vigilantes," Sonya said as she brought out the last bag which in total wasn't as much as it had first seemed.

Charlotte handed the dagger to Sonya who had put out her hand before wiping her own down the fabric of her tattered dress.

"I got that part," Charlotte nodded and looked over at the blade once more before Sonya put it back.

In the last light, she was able to catch that there were words written on there. It was too fast to piece the letters together, but Charlotte thought that it may be in another language as well.

However, one thing was for sure. There was an inscription on the sharp side of the blade which she would have thought to be mundane considering that it will be that side that will get worn down over time, meaning that one day, it'll disappear if not done once again. "An inscription. Is it a spell?"

Vincent sighed. "For the last time, witches do not exist."

Charlotte waved him off. "I know. You told me earlier, so I swear that I'm listening. What does it say?"

Vincent came over and pushed her closer to the door as if to say that she was no help. "What does it matter?"

"Okay, but the bigger question is what makes the weapons there different?"

"That my dear, is a secret," Sonya answered which made Charlotte smile.

Some people got a pass for their coyness or rather their purposeful innocence, and Sonya was definitely one of them. Charlotte didn't mind, but she would try to wrestle it out of Vincent later if she could get him to tell her.

She wasn't confident, but she was going to try her best. Since Vincent had blatantly shown how she wasn't needed, she leaned back and to the side and linked arms with Lucia since they didn't have anything to do.

"We are done here," Vincent said. "Let's move all of this to the car out in front as fast as possible."

Stone clicked out the walkie and passed it over to Sonya. "We need to get to the cabin now."

"What happened?" Vincent asked.

"The vigilantes are on the move. They had gotten to the office building where we were last," Stone muttered.

"That can't be true," Sonya interjected with a frown. "Hendrey was just there."

"He's not anymore. Hendrey will be coming soon to drop off the data that was transferred from the previous safehouse," Stone shrugged. "Either way, the vigilantes are catching up to us, and it won't be long before they are able to retrace our steps."

Sonya sighed. "I don't know how everything unraveled so quickly, but I'll skim the report to the council members."
