Chapter 30 - Holiday plans

We sit at the park near our school. The grass slightly tickling my skin. The sun looking like its about to set but still remaining high up in the sky.

Originally Skylar wanted to go back to the Café that we visited last time. However with all the exams that we have done and also the up coming ones, we decided that it was probably better if we just hung out at the park near the school instead.

Its more relaxing and we don't have to travel around too much.

We all lie down on the grass just vibing, enjoying our moment of peace and relaxation after a tough day of exams.

Skylar suddenly sits up and claps her hand to grab attention from Jaki and I.

"So now that we finally have some time to ourselves have you lovely folks thought of what we want to do for the holidays?"

Jaki also slowly sits up and replies to Skylar.

"Hmm not really to be honest even after I gave it some thought I couldn't really come up with anything specific, since I never really did anything special during the holidays."

"Though I'm sure if its with you all whatever it is we're doing I'll be happy with it."

I feel my insides warm up hearing the words that Jaki just uttered. It feels good knowing that Jaki also enjoys spending time with us.

Skylar also seems to feel the same way I can just tell by the expression on her face.

"Aww, thanks Jaki! In that case I'm sure me and Sandy will come up with something good. You can count on us for making the holidays a blast."

"Hey wait don't drag me into this I don't have any ideas on what to do either."

Now I suddenly feel a little bit of pressure. Afterall Jaki is counting on Skylar and I for coming up with plans for the holidays.

"Well too bad, you gotta help me out now!"

"Okay okay."

I quickly accept my fate, I know that trying to argue with Skylar would be pointless anyway.

My brain starts going through all the things we can do during the holidays and I try to find things that all of us would enjoy.

I start bouncing ideas back and forth with Skylar. We go through all the things we want to do and agreed on a few principles.

We decided that we should do something that we normally can't do during school times. That way the holidays would be more special and better utilized.

"Hmm something we can only do during the holidays."

I ponder what we can do.

"Though to be honest I feel like there isn't anything out there that we can't also do during school times."

"Hmm, you have a point. Maybe I just need to think a little bit harder."

Skylar sudden checks her pockets and takes out her phone.

"Ah sorry, its just a text from my mum. She was just reminding me that later tonight I have my last driving lesson before I take the actual test."

Ding!

An idea sprang into my head upon hearing what Skylar just said.

"That's it!"

"Mmm?"

Both Jaki and Skylar looks at me in confusion, waiting for an explanation from me.

"Well this might not work but it also might depending on how things go."

"Go on."

I can see the curiosity emitting out.

"Well how about we go on a camp or hike or just really anywhere far from the cities and suburbs. Cause Skylar once you have your license you'll be able to drive both Jaki and I right?"

"Ohhhhhh! That is definitely something we can only do during the holidays alright. I like it and you know what? This will also give me more motivation to nail my driving test"

"Fingers crossed! What do you think Jaki."

I turn over to look at Jaki and before I can hear her reply I already know her answer. I can see the excitement that is sparkling in her eyes. I guess the idea of going on a trip away from here must have also resonated with her.

"Sounds good!"

A short and sweet reply.

"I'll start researching what camps or hiking trails are around nearby!"

I can just see the enthusiasm that is radiating from Jaki. She is already thinking about planning the trip.

I do a little fist pump on the inside, happy that Jaki is enthused with my idea.

"That'll be good I'll do some research us well."

"Me three!"

Skylar joined in and replied without missing a beat.

"I think you should probably do more research for your driving test instead."

I couldn't help but make a friendly jab towards Skylar.

"Haha, screw you Sandy! This ain't the same as the tests as school. I got this in the bag."

"You better! We're counting on you."

The three of us go back to lying on the grass again.

But this time instead of feeling relaxed, we are all feeling thrilled and excited thinking about our upcoming trip.
