Chapter 8 - 08|

Brianna

***

Flashback

"Who wants some Ice cream??" He asked, cheerfully "yes! Papa, and I want it to be the chocolate"

"No I want it to be bubblegum!" my brother yelled

"Calm down kids, you'll both get what you want. Okay?" My mom said

"Yay!" I squealed jumping up and down.

"Say thank you Brianna" my mom ordered "Thank you, papa" I said with a big smile on my face "Go, go! I'm starving" i said weakly pushing him out

"Okay, I'll be going" he said with laughs in between. And with that I heard the door close.

A few seconds went by, until hearing a loud crash, I looked up to see the confusion and worry on my mom's face "Mommy, what was that sound?"

"I don't know sweetie, let me go and see" she said walking to the door.

Right as she opened it, she gasped at the view in front of her.

I ran towards her "Mommy what's going o-" All I saw was a man's body and I knew it was my dad's.

"Mommy! What happened to daddy!" Tears began rolling down my cheeks.

I heard small footsteps from behind, and I knew it was my brother.

"Mom? What's going on..."

I jolted back up and began breathing heavily. I could see that my chest was heaving up and down, I was sweaty. I sighed and dropped my head into my hands and tugged my hair back.

I switched on my lamp and went grabbed the bottle of water on my nightstand. I jugged down the bottle almost immediately and finished it. I put the lid back on and closed it and out it where it was.

"It's was just a dream Brianna, just a dream" I mumbled to myself but I knew it wasn't just a dream. It was something I had to witness.

Something that not only my mother but brother and I witnessed to.

[Flashback:]

"Dad! Daddy! Mama what happened?" I cried as I stared at the body that wasn't moving. My mom immediately covered my eyes with her palms as I cried into her arms. "Brandon my boy," my mom whispered and pulled him into a hug too.

"What happened?" I heard a voice. I didn't look back to see what it was and just kept crying my eyes out. "Ch- Chris- please take them inside," my mom said gently pushing us away.

"No! No I don't want to go!" I heard my brother, Brandon say. "Sweetie you have to stay inside-"

"No! What about dad?"

"Mommy is going to check on him right now. But you guys need to stay inside," she said with a small sniffle before nodding at uncle C.

I began to walk back but then I noticed my brother wasn't next to me. "Brandon I told you to go,"

"But mo-"

"Brandon Vyre," she gave him a hard look and finally my brother made his way back inside immediately. "Come on, let's go inside."

Once we got inside all I could hear were the small cries of my mother. I was set on staying awake for the rest of the night, hoping my dad would be okay and enter my room like he did with on other nights. But nothing, and that was the time I had to start getting used to not hearing his voice nor seeing him.

[End flashback]

And those had to be my hardest days. His voice was the only voice that would manage to get me to sleep but I had to get used to my moms voice. And her voice was just so soft and angelic.

I learnt that no one could ever escape death. My father never did, my mother unfortunately didn't to. And I had to witness both of parents deaths and separate times. Because just when I was healing from my father's intentional hit and run, my mother was shit right in front of me.

As far as my brother... I didn't have any clue. So many years passed and I still never knew where he was. But I know who was responsible, It was him. Always him.

It killed me every time because it was a feeling of loose while he just kept winning. Laughing where ever he is because he is victorious. And I've always felt like I was battling something that I could never win.

And everyday I'd be asking myself, will I ever win this battle?

Only time could tell.
