~Village Chief
Eat up, everyone!!
Maki and the rest of the villagers filled their faces, but Kenchi wasn't hungry. Kenchi walked outside to take a stroll around the village.
~Kenchi
The being that helped me I don't know if I can trust him, but he did give me the upgrade I needed to defeat Ashura. Ashura was definitely one of the Five Gods. If so the damage they are capable of inflicting is astronomical. To ensure no one else gets hurt I have to do this by myself.
For this great power Kenchi had obtained he was unknowingly diminishing the only thing that held the world together. As everyone went to sleep, Kenchi got up and dressed to leave. As he stepped outside a voice behind Kenchi pierced the silence of the night.
~The village chief
You're leaving without your friend?
~Kenchi
Yeah, I can't see anyone else die.
~The village chief
How noble. What war do you wish to fight by yourself?
~Kenchi
A war against those who call themselves gods.
~The village chief
Don't tell me you're going after the Five Gods. That's suside!
~Kenchi
I have to bring peace to the world and find out what happened to my friends.
~The Village Chief
Since you seem set on this mission, I have one thing for you.
The Village Chief reached into his robe and pulled out a large golden ring.
~The Village Chief
It's broken, but it should still have some charm to it. My grandmother had it for fifty years, and she gave it to me when she passed. She used to tell me that it was a piece of a thirty-thousand-year-old relic.
~Kenchi
Huh. That relic has to be worth a lot.
~The Village Chief
You need all the luck you can get.
~Kenchi
Thank you.
~Maki
What are you doing?
Kenchi turned around trying to act as if everything was alright, but his forced smile didn't help.
~Kenchi
I was just taking a walk around the village. Isn't that right?
Kenchi's eyes were locked in the Village Chief's direction.
~The Village Chief
Oh yes, that's right. We were about to head back to bed when you came.
~Maki
Well, it's too late now. I'm already awake, and I don't feel like sleeping, so we might as well get back on the road.
~Kenchi
Right...
Right then the door had swung open, and standing in the doorway were the villagers.
~A woman
You guys can't leave without food, especially with how long the road out of these mountains is. By the time they were finished packing all the food the villagers had prepared for them, it was morning. As the light of the sun penetrated the bamboo forest Kenchi and Maki began their journey to new lands. {So many secrets yet to be solved, and an abundance of questions still unanswered.
