Sean Knight didn't pay much attention to the wrathful deity statue; it was merely made of clay and not clad in iron wrapped around gold as described in "Seven Swords Under The Tianshan Mountains," so it didn't pique his interest.
There was ash in the incense burner in front of the statue, but it seemed old, clearly not from incense burnt in the past two days.
Given the dilapidated state of the temple, there likely weren't many monks left, so they probably couldn't keep up with its maintenance.
After looking around, there didn't seem to be anything of value in the main hall, so Sean and Douglas Cooper headed towards the back.
Upon leaving the hall, they saw Elijah Hastings vigilantly surveying the surroundings, while a monk lay on the ground in a pool of blood.
Next to the monk was a Type 38 rifle that was severely worn. Sean picked it up and found that it contained only one bullet left.
It seemed the monks weren't wealthy!
