In the afternoon, when Sean Knight and his team left, they carried a few more small seed samples with them.
Enough to make a bracelet. Although not worth a lot of money, it was a memento from their own excavation work.
After dinner, when they returned to the hotel and were about to go to their separate rooms, Aphrodite Johnson asked Sean:
"Are you going to the mountains tomorrow?"
Sean shook his head and said:
"We'll see."
Disappointment flickered across Aphrodite's face, but she quickly smiled and said:
"Okay."
Having grown up in China, Aphrodite understood the evasive meaning behind Sean's "We'll see."
Back in her room, she couldn't understand why Sean seemed so reluctant to be around her.
Had he seen so many beautiful women that he just wasn't interested in her?
That didn't seem right!
Aphrodite had met her fair share of playboys and trust-fund babies. Most of them, upon meeting her, would actively seek out her contact information and invite her out for meals.
