Re-entering the tent, Sean Knight lay in his sleeping bag, but simply couldn't fall asleep.
The scenes from his previous dream seemed to have actually occurred to him. Moreover, Sean even now understood why the pyramid on the high terrace had sunk underground!
The cause was twofold - Jason had triggered a mechanism on his side, and Sean had taken away something that he shouldn't have.
Jason's triggering of the mechanism would only cause the sand above the underground hall to fill up the hall and the corridor. After a while, the sand would leak out, and the hall and corridor would return to their normal state.
However, the seemingly unremarkable gem that Sean took was the key to the entire hall sinking underground - that gem contained the heritage of the Maya civilization, just like the Thirteen Crystal Skulls!
Moreover, as long as one truly obtained the inheritance from that gem, they could bring the sacrificial hall underground back up.
This was mightily impressive!
