Madden, as always, pushed the price directly to the first highpoint:
"Five thousand US dollars!"
Before the auctioneer could repeat this offer, Diana Smith, who had previously failed to compete with Hamilton Diaz, immediately raised her hand:
"Eight thousand dollars!"
Elder Joey wouldn't show weakness either:
"Ten thousand US dollars!"
At this point, the bidding slightly slowed down. Auctioneer Cook, who was as stunned as the other treasure hunters, just reacted in time and repeated loudly:
"Ten thousand dollars, ten thousand dollars Mr. Joey offers ten thousand dollars, any more increase, ten thousand dollars, alright, twelve thousand dollars, twelve thousand dollars...."
