Chereads / The Apex hunter / Chapter 25 - 25 Challange

Chapter 25 - 25 Challange

The trial this time also has a rather high pass rate. However, people in the tribe are not surprised. Almost all the people that participated in this trial are on the site class hunter who has been taught to become the best in the village.

All the kids who pass the trial all line up in front of the sea god statue. There are currently 12 people who pass the trial and 3 who fail. Despite their powerful body, they either start the hunt too late or can't find the monster so, they fail the trial.

Other than that there are not many more reasons the Boniha tribe kid couldn't pass the trial. However, one performance would dictate the ranking of the hunter. It also grants certain privileges at a certain rank too. And the person with the most impressive hunt would be grated an elite tribesmen hunter rank right when they pass. So the kids have worked hard for this.

The best hunter right now is Layla because she can take down two monsters that are fairly high up in the food chain. She is really pleased with her performance and is eager to share this with Gurara.

However, there are certain people that are not happy with their performance.

'How.... did this happen?'

Graha is currently in the middle of the pack in terms of their hunt. He happened to be one of those guys with worse tracking skills and got lucky at the end of the trial when he stumbled upon a weak monster and killed it.

He is supposed to be one of the top hunters in this trial. With his strength, he could crush any monster in his way. Most of the monsters on this island can't even match up to his power! Why does he have to do something like tracking?

Even more, infuriating that Michael passes the trial! Graha couldn't believe it. The kid who always crying and can't even fight him has passed the trial.

"Silence!" A powerful voice sounded from Belga the vice chief. He turns his head toward the participant and says "Congratulations on passing the trial. I'm sure that everybody here is quite a capable hunter. Some may be weaker than others but, they could also hunt the monster all the same. Other than the 3 that fail the hun every body here did good. However, not every hunt is equal some are better and some are worst. From our judgment here's the ranking of all the participants."

Belga gets out a piece of paper and starts reading from that list "rank 13 Bahan rank 14 Ga..... rank 8 Michael, rank 7 Graha..... and finally the best hunter of this trial... Rank 1 Layla! Let's give all of the patici[ant a round of applause! they all did a good job!"

Then Belga paused for a bit "And for those who didn't pass the trial, don't worry. You'll be able to participate next time so, be ready for it next time. Don't disappoint the tribe, Ok!?"

"Yes!" The three fail Boniha kids answer in unison.

Velga gives a satisfying place to all the failed hunters and looks back at the one that passed. "Is there anyone displeased with their ranking?"

Belga's gaze sweeps through all the participants. His powerful presence makes every kid there reluctant to speak up, even if there's not happy with the ranking. Micahel is plenty happy with the result so he didn't have to do anything. However, there's one person who's not satisfied with his ranking.

"Um?.... Graha what's the problem? are you not satisfied with your ranking?"

"Yes!" Graha points his finger at Micahel "He's stolen my hunt!"

"What!?"

"???"

Everyone, there's shocked including Michael. He didn't expect Graha to interrupt the ceremony. With Belga's presence, everyone would be intimidated to speak up.

"Do you have any evidence?"

"No, but, Micahel got no evidence either. He has no Soul candle with him and this hunter here can testify that I hunt that monster!"

"No, that's...."

"Micahel do you have the soul candle?

Micahel is now nervous because he doesn't know a thing about the soul candle. When did they give it out? Thinking back he could guess that it must have been when he was passed out.

'Dammit!' Micahel sure inside "No, sir I don't have it but.."

"Silence, let me hear the witness's word. Who can testify that Graha has killed that Alma lizard?"

After Belga said this, several hunters stepped up to say that they saw Graha kill the monster but, when he was asleep, the monster was gone in the next day. They suspect that Some monster must have stolen it. They didn't expect that Michael would have it.

"That's bullshit!" their story has several plotholes but no one mentions them. They even support the point that he made. He couldn't even lift the alma lizard! How could he steal it?

"Silence! Micahel do you have any witnesses?"

"W...well if anyone watched over me they would have seen that I hunt this lizard myself."

Michael proclaims shakingly. Confronting people is not his strong suit. He almost cry from the pressure that Belga gave off.

"Is there anyone who has seen Michael hunt this monster?" All the hunters of the village shake their heads. Michael's nervousness transforms into fear as the hunters shake their heads.

"Wait No! I hunt this monster myself!"

"Do you have any evidence?"

"No... I"

"Then I'm sorry Micahel, the Graha side has more evidence..."

"I can testify for Michael!" Gurara step up for Michael and said "I trail Michael for the last 3 days and can confirm that he hunted the lizard himself! and Graha also doesn't have the soul candle too!"

"tch," Belga clicks his tongue in annoyance. The vice village chief didn't plan to give Micahel hunt to Graha however, Belga wouldn't mind disqualifying Michael from the trial. "But it's only your word. Gurara you still can't confirm anything without the soul candles."

The soul candle should be given to him at the start of the hunt by Belga but, Michael has been there too late to receive the candle. If he got the candle, this mess wouldn't happen.

"Then how about we do a challenge of honor? If I win the battle he gets the hunt but, if Michael wins the hunt he gets to keep his hunt." Graha smirk as he challenges Michael. This seems to be his plan from the start.

"!?"

"That condition is not fair..."

Michael tries to deny it but Belga cut him off.

"Well, the condition is not unfair since it is Graha who issues the challenge. He naturally gets to decide the condition and I think that we all agree on it right?"

The challenge of honor is a way to settle disputes in the village. Its rule will be judged and approved by a majority vote from all the villagers. And since Graha is the chief son, the vote naturally passes.

Michael has no choice but to enter the arena despite his fustration.
