Chapter 15 - Realization

Jean Garry scoffed but he could not say anything as he was aware of Carson's net worth and knew that some pride came with having that kind of wealth.

"It's in a choice location...you're aware of that already," Jean Garry started. "A busy place which would profit any kind of business that you want to use the warehouse for..."

Carson nodded. He wondered why Jean was stating the obvious when all he was waiting for was the price of the place. However, he knew what Jean Garry was doing -- he knew that the old man was a shrewd businessman but so was Carson Garner. He didn't need that warehouse but had only used it as an excuse to get closer to Scarlet.

"The giving prize is $80 million," Jean Garry said finally.

"Done, then," Carson said.

"No bargaining?"

"Is there a chance to bargain?"

Jean looked at Carson and shook his head with a rub of his hands. "No," he said curtly.

"Good, Mr. Jean..." Carson said. "My assistant would process the payment and all the transfer of ownership that needs to be done... is that alright with you?"

"Yes...perfect," Jean said. "She would deal with Andrew, then."

Carson stood up, buttoned his suit jacket, and walked to where Jean Garry was. As he stared into Scarlet's eyes, he shook Jean's hand.

"Nice doing business with you."

Jean shook his hand as well as he was pleased with the way the meeting had gone.

"Can I have a word with your nurse in private, Mr. Jean?"

Jean Garry's impressed and elated expression fell. But somehow, he felt like his hands were tied and he reluctantly nodded his head.

Scarlet had a frown on her face as she looked at Jean and back at Carson.

"Nurse Scarlet..." Carson said. "If you may... I'd like to speak with you please," Carson pleaded as he stretched out his hand, motioning to the dining area. He required privacy for what he was about to ask her.

"Scarlet..." Carson said.

"Carson..." Scarlet responded.

He smiled. "I'd like to invite you to dinner..."

"Oh really?"

"Yes..." Carson said. "I want to get to know you... there is something about you that pulls me to you, Scarlet. Would you give me that honor?"

"Honor?"

"Yes, Scarlet..."

She thought about his offer a little and Scarlet found herself really considering it. She could not recall the last time that she'd gone on a date with a man. And to go on a date with this man would be a blast, Scarlet knew. She couldn't lie that she'd been impressed with the business deal that had just occurred in the sitting room -- who wouldn't be?

"When?" Scarlet asked shortly after her reverie.

"When do you get off your shift?"

"After I get off this shift, I have another one in-" Scarlet caught herself when she noticed she was about to slip up about the other place that she worked -- and that was something that she wanted hidden from people.

"Do you work somewhere else?"

"Um...no," Scarlet quickly added. "I get off this shift at 7 pm..."

"Where do I pick you up from?" Carson asked. Then in the next instant, he dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out his card and his phone.

"Kindly call out your phone number," Carson said.

Scarlet took his phone and punched her number in. "This phone is so sleek," she said as she handled the device.

"Thanks," Carso replied. "I'll call you, Scarlet," he said with a smile on his face. His cheeks appeared red as he was warped in happiness. He felt like he had just landed a huge contract with the government that could earn him millions of dollars --that was how he felt with Scarlet accepting his dinner invite and even giving him her phone number.

He took her hand in his and planted a kiss on the back of her palm. "You have made me happy and I hope you allow me to make you happy as well."

Scarlet smiled softly and allowed him to hold her hand a second longer than usual.

"Scarlet?" Jean called from the sitting room sounding impatient.

"Mr. Garry..." Scarlet said as she walked toward him. "Are you alright?"

"I was about to ask you the same thing," Jean said. "You all were talking 'hush hush' over there... is everything alright, Scarlet?"

"Why wouldn't it be?"

As Carson watched Scarlet walk away to respond to Jean Garry's call, that was when it hit him -- that was when realization dawned on him and he experienced an 'Aha' moment. He could tell from the way she swayed her body from side to side. He could tell from her physique and how she carried her gorgeous body. He could tell from the aura that she emitted -- the strong and seductive aura that she carried with her.

She was the dancer he'd seen in Arcane.

Carson adjusted his collar after he'd gathered his thoughts and walked back into the sitting room.

"Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Jean..." he said as he headed toward the door. "Scarlet..."

Scarlet nodded in his direction as the housekeeper appeared from nowhere and got the door for Mr. Carson.

There was a lot that they'd talk about during dinner, Carson thought. But at the same time, he didn't know if she wanted that to be out there as it seemed to him that she had many faces to her.

"Interesting," Carson muttered as he stepped into the owner's corner of his black Rolls Royce Boat Tail car.

"Where to, Sir?" his driver asked without turning his head to look at Carson Garner.

"Back to the office..." he said, thinking of the plan that he'd had years ago and deciding that was what he was going to use the warehouse he'd just acquired for. Carson took out his phone again and dialed the restaurant's number and confirmed the time with them.

"See you then, Mr. Carson," the voice from the other end of the line said before Carson hung up.
