The door bell to Jean Garry's residence rang and after some minutes, the door opened. There was a lady there who was dressed in a uniform making it seem like she was the housekeeper of the residence.
"Mr. Carson Garner?" the woman said in a polite manner with a welcoming smile on her face.
Carson nodded. His left hand was in his pocket and one of the buttons of his suit was loosened. Carson didn't put on a tie giving him a casual look. He hadn't really come there for business even though that was what he'd used as a cover-up. Somehow, deep within him, Carson had thought that he'd be met by the nurse at the door but could not help but feel a little disappointment when it had been the housekeeper.
"Please... do come in, " she said as she gave way for Carson to enter the house.
"Mr. Jean is in his study..." she said. "Let me alert him of your arrival."
"Thank you," Carson replied as he remained standing in the living room. He looked around and was pleased by how decorated the house was. It was built with intentionality and Carson could tell that Jean had used state-of-the-art materials and a good architect for that matter. He was impressed. He walked over to where pictures were displayed and kept himself busy viewing them while he waited. The man had a lovely family, Carson thought as he wondered why he'd never seen the wife around Jean in all the years of their business together. Carson shrugged and returned to where he'd been standing.
Then, he heard voices coming down to the sitting room on the ground floor as the house was a three-floor house.
"Ah! Mr. Carson..." Jean called out upon entering the sitting room.
And just behind him was Scarlet -- his personal nurse.
Carson's heart instantly skipped a beat as their eyes met. He couldn't peel his gaze off Scarlet's face and it seemed like they were alone in that room that they stood in. The whole place fell silent and Carson could only hear his thoughts and the rhythmic beating of his heart. Somewhere inside him, Carson felt like a teenage boy who had seen his crush walk into a room.
"Mr. Carson?" Jean Garry had to call again. He looked from Carson and turned his head around to look at Scarlet. A frown came on his face as he felt confused and somewhat jealous. Jean knew that Scarlet was very attractive and catchy and anyone that saw her was likely to take a liking to her instantly. If he had his way and didn't depend so much on Scarlet, he wouldn't have her with him when he met with other people. In fact, if Jean had his way, he would keep Scarlet in his mansion all the time and would never let her out in the open. But he couldn't do that and it frustrated him. Jean needed her with him in case he needed to be administered a drug or something of that nature.
"Mr. Jean...Good afternoon," Carson said, finally managing to garner himself an his thoughts. He stepped forward and shook the man's hand, his gaze going to Scarlet again. However, he didn't apologize for his attention being taken away like that. Carson rarely apologized for things. That was just how he was.
"Yes..." Jean said -- the tone of his voice had changed drastically. Now, he wanted to hurry into the business that had brought Carson and have the man on his way before anything else could happen.
"Hello..." Carson said. His gaze fixed on Scarlet.
Scarlet nodded. She had been shocked to see the man here in Jean's house and she couldn't help but feel that he'd come there because of her. But she quickly pushed that thought away as that sounded a bit outlandish to her.
'Would he do that?' she thought. 'Would he leave his business and come to this house looking for me?' Scarlet wondered. She blinked severally and licked her bottom lip, before drawing in a breath and replying to his greeting. The atmosphere felt charged and the sparks could be seen flying everywhere in the room. "Hello...Mister...?"
"Carson...Call me Carson."
Scarlet nodded. "Hello, Carson," she said. His name rolled off her tongue in an alluring manner. He was drop-dead handsome, she had to admit and he smelled wealthy also, she noticed as his perfume warped the whole space.
Jean Garry cleared his throat roughly which sadly led to a fit of cough.
Scarlet walked to the dining area and collected a glass cup from the cabinet that was there. She fetched water from the dispenser and brought it to Jean to ease his stress. She could feel Carson's gaze on her as she rolled her shoulder. The man was intense and had a commanding aura about him.
"Are you alright, Mr. Jean?" Carson asked in a flat tone.
Jean Garry shot him a look that could have killed him then he groaned. "Are you here to discuss business or...?"
"Should I sit?" Carson asked, only just realizing that he'd been standing all this time.
"If you can..." Jean replied sarcastically, However, he knew that he had to kindle his anger and irritation as he could heavily profit from the deal that Mr. Carson had to offer. So, he held back what he could have normally said to show his annoyance.
"Thank you, " Carson responded. Jean's reaction didn't go unnoticed to Carson's keen intuition but he could not care less. There was no law that kept Carson away from getting to know the man's personal nurse and the introduction that had gone on did not hurt anyone.
Carson cleared his throat and unbuttoned his suit. "About your warehouse near the Summit Bank in the heart of town..."
"I hear you're interested in acquiring that property..."
"I've gone to see it and noticed that it's not in use..." Carson stated. "Do you wish to sell?"
Jean thought for a moment before he said; "It depends on the price..."
"State your price, Mr. Jean..." came Carson's response.
