"Schedule another meeting, Lexi," Carson Garner said as he absently adjusted the cufflinks on his shirt.
"With who, sir?"
"With Jean Garry..."
Lexi's brows furrowed. "If I may, what would the meeting be about, sir?"
"What?"
"It's his deputy that would be receiving my call, what should I tell him the meeting would be about?"
Carson thought for a moment. He hadn't considered that when he'd decided that he needed to get Jean Garry, and yes, his nurse into his office again. He would have to come up with something.
"I want to discuss the purchase of his warehouse downtown..." Carson said.
Lexi could not understand what she was hearing but who was she to question the CEO? She took a long breath in and made sure that it wasn't loud enough for Carson to hear it.
"I'll get on it ASAP, sir."
"Hmm."
He opened the folders that were on his table and got to work. Still, his mind was on the lady who's name was Scarlet. Who was she? What was she about? Why couldn't he get his mind off her? Carson had met various ladies -- different women of different colors, shapes, and sizes. None had made him feel the way he was feeling now. He was so curious about Scarlet -- he wanted to know her by any means possible.
Carson picked up his phone and called the owner of one of the three fivestar restaurants in the city.
"Good day, Pal..." Carson said as he set the phone back on the table. He was using a wireless earphone which he found quite convenient.
"I want to make a reservation for tomorrow..."
"Good day, Mr. Carson," came the voice into Carson's ear. "It's been a while since we've heard from you... busy with work?"
Carson sighed. "Yes... with one or two things," he replied sounding quite friendly. He'd been eating at this particular restaurant for some years now. It was beautiful -- the ambience was breathtaking and they had some of the best chefs in town.
"What time should we clear out the place for you, sir?"
"Um..." Carson muttered. "I would have to get back to you on that... But I'm guessing evening time, say, 6 pm," Carson finished as his mind drifted to the Arcane club. His brows creased at that thought and wondered why that had happened. There was something that his mind was trying to match up but he still couldn't place his finger on it. Not yet anyway.
"Alright..."
"In fact... let the restaurant be vacant the whole of tomorrow for I may walk in at any time," Carson decided.
"Yes, sir... Your wish is my command, " the owner finished with his voice evidently carrying a smile.
The door to his office opened and Lexi walked in. "Sir... Mr. Andrew is asking if he could get back to us around noon time."
Carson got irritated at that statement instantly. "What's the meaning of that?"
Lexi was about to say something but Carson cut her off.
"Do you have Jean Garry's direct contact?"
"No, sir...but-"
"But what, Lexi?" Carson said impatiently.
Lexi was confused. She had never seen her boss like the way he was now. And that was when it clicked. He was this way because he wanted to meet with that nurse again. Her heart began to race in jealousy and she could feel anger welling up within her. However, she dared not show it.
"I can get around to acquiring his direct contact for you," she said finally.
"Do that!" said Carson, "And I want results in one hour."
Lexi Hunt nodded and turned around. She walked out of Carson's office seething. Just then, her phone rang and she looked into the screen to see that it was Andrew returning her call.
"Hello, Mr. Andrew," Lexi said.
"You do not sound as pleasant as you did earlier," Andrew said.
Lexi was taken aback by that statement as it sounded quite informal. She cleared her throat and went ahead to say; "Mr. Carson wants to speak directly with Mr. Jean Garry...How can you make that possible?"
"Umm... Is it that important?"
"Will Mr. Carson Garner be calling if it weren't, Mr. Andrew?" she asked as she tried her hardest to sound normal even though she was red hot with anger at that moment.
"Alright then... You'll have to call me back in ten."
Lexi dropped the phone before Andrew could say another word.
She continued with other tasks even as her mind swirled and raced. What was she going to do? How was she going to get the attention of her boss in the way that she wanted? She was planning a surprise party for Carson for his upcoming birthday and his mind wasn't where she wanted it to be at all -- his mind was with that nurse. Lexi had noticed how invested Carson was in getting to know who the nurse was during the last meeting with Jean Garry -- as if that wasn't annoying enough, this had to happen.
She dialed Andrew's number again and he answered the call at the second ring.
"Mr. Jean Garry would be available for Mr. Carson at his residence this afternoon by 2 pm..." said Andrew. "Is that alright?"
Lexi thought for a moment. "I'm sure it'd be," she replied.
"I'd forward the address to you then. Mr. Jean is not up to coming out of his house so-"
"I understand."
"Hmm..."
The call disconnected and Lexi's phone beeped the next minute. She had received the address to Jean Garry's house and she was sure that Carson would be pleased. That alone, gave her a little sense of relief as she straightened her outfit and rearranged her hair.
Stepping into Carson's office, she found him typing away on his MacBook. "Boss..." she called, "I couldn't get his contact but he'd receive you at his residence today at 2."
"Perfect..." Carson said as he looked at his watch. At the same time, he hoped that he'd meet the nurse at Jean's residence.
