Chereads / Phantom of Dimension - The Introduction / Chapter 12 - I also had compulsory education

Chapter 12 - I also had compulsory education

What was my fault again? Why is everyone here so weird? This is so tiresome. I should not have come here at all! John was questioning his choices for life.

"Hi, Uncle John. I am Harper." Harper spoke from the other side of Raph.

The seats in the dining hall were very spacious. You could perfectly see each other even if someone was sitting between you. John looked at the girl who just spoke in cold melodious voice. She was a redhead. With gem like blue eyes and fair complexion. She would be the first person to gain the attention in just the moment of glance. How could he not notice? I should have to get my tongue as well as my eyes checked. Thought Mr Davis as he frowned at thinking of having neglected something.

"Hello, Harper." He said softly.

"Why didn't you introduce her to me? Are you trying to hide your friend from me? What are playing at?" John slapped Raph's shoulder with complaining tone.

"I'm not. And she is not my friend." Raph countered.

"What? Are you fighting with each other? Let me tell you, even if you quarrel sometimes, you should not ignore your friends. Why are you youngsters so heartless? Even I and your father used to quarrel… (Blah)… (Blah)… (Blah)" Mr Davis has a problem. He likes to complain. And those complaints are very long. Like, they could continue for hours. Raph looked at his grandfather for help. The old man raised his hands in dismissal, saying you started it, now you should enjoy the noise service.

"John…. Uncle John." Raph called. Harper and other three were chuckling at his expense.

"Huh…" John looked at him suspiciously.

"She is not my friend. She is my sister." Raph declared.

"Sister. What? Does Andy know that you have made a sister in school?" John asked warily.

"Why wouldn't he know? Of course he knows." Raph said.

"O… Right-"

"After all he made her." Raph continued without giving him a chance to say something.

"What? He chose her? He adopted her?" John was confused. Both the old people were smiling at the two's crosstalk. The teenagers were listening and waiting for the dinner.

"No. Literally. He made her. Just like he made me. Do not ask 'How'. That content is inappropriate and you are old enough to know about that. Oh, yeah. Actually he made us both together." Raph said nonchalantly. Not giving the man enough time to think.

"So… So, you are saying she is your biological sister? How?" John lamented.

"I told you not to ask 'How'. Oh goodness. Save me." Raph sighed as he massaged his temples.

John shrank his neck after listening to the young man's annoyed voice. His mind was swirling in the circles. You see? Double emphasis. He looked at the girl with a complicated expression and uttered slowly.

"Did… did he green little Nikki?"

Boom.

"What the Fu*k are you thinking Davis? Do you have a death wish? Do you think I am not annoyed enough by your slurpy flirty words to my wify? I think the Mayor is very courageous and is willing to stand against old bones to work out the next quarterly town plan on his own." Old man Greg was a little annoyed at first with this chatterbox. But his last thread of patience snapped at his casual words against his pretty little daughter-in-law. How could he ridicule her? How beautiful and virtuous she is! Not more than Kary though. Managing his dog son for life, giving him his grandson and his most precious granddaughter. How could his bastard son cheat on his daughter-in-law? He will personally break his legs and make him disabled if he dared to even think about that.

John was bewildered. Oh god. He stepped on the gun again. What sins had he done in his last life that he has to endure this again and again? His angular slander face was wrinkled in embarrassment.

"Bu… But how?" He stuttered.

Old man Greg knocked the surface of the dining table with a bang. "We don't know what the couple do behind closed door. We are not nosy. Unlike you. Aren't you old enough to be aware of this? Hmph. Oh No. I forgot. You are not married." Flustered Mr Davis shrank his neck again. That is a personal attack now. And do I have to get married to know THAT? I also had compulsory education. Still he didn't dare to tell that openly.

"Oh. You are still a distrustful bastard, huh? Look at her eyes and her hair, idiot. Look at that face and her nose." Old man snorted heavily at his ashamed behavior.

The girl looked at him with her innocent big blue gem like eyes. The warm light of the chandelier casted a beautiful glow on her small porcelain face. Her bright hair created a halo around her. John belatedly noticed the signature scarlet hair of Vlahos'. But he was in an awe of the few golden strands which she supposedly inherited from her mother. As he remembered that Vlahos' red hair represented Fire. But this girl overshadowed that meaning. Now it represented Burning Fire. With her existence.

"Ah… How could I ignore her eyes! Just like Nikki's. Wait, no. Not completely like her. There is a hint of green. Okay. She is a hybrid of Andy and Nikki. How impressive!" John was dazzled.

Raph rubbed his forehead and sighed softly. Harper silently passed the glass of water to him and squeezed his shoulder in condolence. I have made you suffer, my dear brother. Smirk.

"Shut up! You are blabbering too much." Greg bellowed with a hint of one part anger and four part headache.

"Dinner is ready, master." Butler Simon's calm voice ended the annoyed atmosphere.

"Finally. Let's serve quickly. So that, some people can leave the Manor in peace." Greg heaved a breath.

"Of course." Butler Simon signed to the two servants to serve the dishes. They went in the kitchen and came back with a trolley full of fragrant pots. The dining room was immediately filled with the aroma of baked cheese and sauce. A large tray of baked feta and cherry tomato pasta was served at the center of the table. Along with that they put a pot in the center of the table and opened the lid. A mouthwatering tangy smell of tomato soup rushed to their nose. The bowls of cream and a plate of garlic cheesy butter along with a basket of variety of breads and grilled cheese were placed around them. Another tray was brought in by Butler Simon as they started their first serving of the dinner with hearty tomato soup and grilled cheese. The spicy and tangy sweet aroma attacked their nose as the dish was placed in front of them. It was tofu stir-fry with chef Loris' magic sauce.

"Ah. As expected of Loris! Delicious. So delicious." John spurted out each word with a background noise of chewing sound. Each word louder than the previous.

"Well, I thank Mr Davis for the praise as well." A smooth voice called out from the kitchen door, causing the crowd to look up at the figure of the man in white standard chef uniform. He was slightly chubby but his figure was unexpectedly thin compared to his face with a taller than average height. He was carrying a large tray of a baked dish. The smell of spices was heavier than the previous tofu stir-fry. He smiled with his eyes turning in crescents while walking towards dining table. Butler Simon helped him holding the tray while ignoring the other party's soft refusal.

"Ah. Loris. You are the best. No. Second best. My wife is the first. But these are fantastic. You even made my favorite vegetable curry with rice. You are an angel." Old man Greg blew the rainbow fart as soon as he saw the young man. The man smiled again with his chubby cheeks.

"Ah, master Greg. You are embarrassing me again. How were the cookies?" Loris asked forgetting that others were here as well.

"Ah. They were very good, Loris dear. He had half a jar the next day and had indigestion because of that. So I had to hide the jar." Kary, who was talking with the two girls interjected after hearing the mention of those cookies.

"Huh? But he promised me that he will eat only couple of cookies a day." Loris looked at Kary with round eyes with a hint of guilt. Greg felt suffocated at the sight of the young man's betrayed expression. He looked at him apologetically.

"It's okay, dear Loris. You don't have to worry. Just hand me the jar next time. I shall make sure to let him eat a limited amount." Karen comforted the young man and warned the old man with her eyes while turning to continue her conversation with Lana and Anna.

"Ah. Well, kids. This is chef Loris. You can call him Uncle Loris. He is the son of Simon and Linda who was our previous chef. He just came from abroad meeting his mother, who is currently participating as a judge at some international food program." Greg introduced him proudly.

"Hi Uncle Loris. Your cookies were great and I love the pasta." Harper greeted him while scooping the pasta with fork.
