Time ticked ever so slowly, and Judgement Day had finally arrived. The day the Frost Clan's first domain leader appears. Timeless had nothing to do, thus, he had been spending most of his time in the VR world. He was constantly engaging in battle. At one point, he had even spent an entire day in the VR world, just to distract himself from the internal struggle he was facing.
He had felt a constant struggle ever since the encounter with the Blackout leader, Tempus, and not knowing how to deal with it, he chose to hide within the VR world as a form of escape.
At the moment, he was seated in a large study deep in thought. Ever since Luoyang had confirmed the impending arrival of the Frost Clan leader, he had tried to think of every possible task the Frost Clan leader might try to assign him for, but he just couldn't figure it out.
A few moments later, a member of the Frost Clan, accompanied by several guards, entered the study and said with a bow, "The Esteemed Lord requires your presence."
"Time to end it all," Timeless muttered as he walked out of the study with the group in tow.
The walk was a long one for him. As he whiled away in thought, he was escorted to another room inside the mansion. There right opposite to the entrance, a man could be seen seated on a chair which was placed on a high platform. Looking at him the Frost Clan member's that escorted him bowed.
"It is good to see you again, Timeless," Marcus said as he waved his hands to dismiss the guards.
Seeing as the Room became empty again, Timeless raised his head to look at the Frost Clan leader and said vaguely, "What is the other request you ask of me?"
"What's the rush, you seem to hate my guts but that's fine remember what I said the last time?" the frost clan leader replied relaxingly, with a chuckle.
Timeless instantly frowned. He recalled the words the Frost Clan leader conveyed to him when they first met: "Because I am weak."
Seeing the strange expression on Timeless face, the Frost Clan leader's lips curled up into a smile as he said, "I do thank you greatly for the role you played in ensuring the survival of Guinevere. The way you pulled it off was beyond my expectation. But you still do not have the power to decide your fate yet; even with the skill you showed."
'Such a despicable fellow,' Timeless silently thought as he gritted his teeth In hate at such a deplorable comment.
Seeing as Timeless wasn't responding, the Frost Clan's leader continued, "Guinevere did talk to me about you while you were unconscious, and I did want to accept her request. And, after hearing about the ability you possess, I just couldn't overlook it," he paused for a moment before continuing, "There is a task I want you to accomplish Timeless. I wanted to wait till you reached the peak of the general rank by fast tracking your growth before assigning you this mission, but due to this new information, the timeframe for that has moved forward. I need to be hasty about it"
"So this was all because of the method I used to save your daughters?" asked Timeless, interrupting him before he could explain further.
"I only have one daughter, boy. Do not make that mistake again," the Frost Clan leader said as he radiated an immensely icy and chilling aura.
Timeless could feel the temperature of the already cold room drop even further. Unlike the time he witnessed the expedition team members using their abilities, he could tell the glaring difference between the former and the latter.
"The level of control and the refined icy aura being exhibited by the Frost Clan leader surely is on another level," he thought as his limbs shook uncontrollably, not because of the cold, but due to something he felt for the first time in a very long time:
Fear!
Even though the room was ice cold, he could feel his back soaked with sweat. Just like an ant starting at an elephant, he too felt the same
After a moment, the room temperature returned to normal as the chilling aura was withdrawn, making Timeless feel a little bit comfortable. During the first encounter, he wasn't as panicked as he was right now and spoke rather confidently due to his escape skill—which he doesn't possess at the moment.
Although he had gained a new skill, that was just a movement technique that couldn't be compared in any way to the mythic rank skill. Thinking back now, even if he had the mythic skill, it still didn't give him the right to be arrogant after witnessing the side effect of the skill; he felt quite lucky he didn't actually test his luck by using it during the first encounter.
Calming himself down a bit, Timeless asked in a composed manner "What is the mission all about?"
"Well, don't worry about it being something that goes against your moral code," The Frost Clan leader replied vaguely. Taking in a deep breath, he continued, "There is a task you'll be accomplishing with Guinevere. There is a tree that bears fruit every 100 years in the domain, this strange tree is said to give unique abilities when consumed. All you have to do is secure one for me."
"An ability fruit? What abilities does it give, if I may ask?" inquired Timeless, feeling intrigued.
"Who knows? It's said that the ability gained varies; a Light Clan member once ate such a fruit and gained wings. From the information gathered, it's said to be a fruit that unlocks a person's gene evolution in advance," said the frost clan leader, not intending to hide this information.
"Gene evolution?" Timeless mumbled quietly as he gulped. Inwardly, he was greatly shocked and deep in thought of gaining such a fruit.
As everyone knows, the gene evolution was said to be unlocked only upon reaching the epic rank. Hearing of such a round about method, Timeless's eyes flashed with greed and expectance for a moment. He couldn't be blamed, as it was something that was quite enticing even to a massive clan with huge resources.
