#Chapter5

AFTER MATH

Ian's POV

/"Six people were found dead in a V.I.P room, in a club called Sinners. The victims were found violently and inhumanely decapitated. One of the victims was an unidentified female who did not seem to work in the club as verified by the owner. According to the police, the female did not have any clo/"

/"Could you turn that off please?/" I asked the bald driver of the cab.

Too much blood had been spilled last night. I knew that sooner or later they would come for Ted's life.

Our company was a threat to their organization. We produced the antidote to their virus. But witnessing how they bit on the bait, Ted's acting was genuinely believable.

I needed him to act as the CEO of the company while I did my devil stuff on the low. I didn't want to be in the limelight

The cab driver gave me a quick stare through the rearview mirror and a scowl was evident on his astringent face.

/"Sure, whatever you say,/" he drawled and rolled down his window to spit whatever he snorted.

Most of these creatures were indeed unsanitary.

Instead of turning off the radio like what he was asked to, the cab driver lowered the volume.

His cab his rules it would seem.

My eyes followed the rain droplets as they ran down the blurry cold glass. Now it was all blurry not because of the moist caused by the freezing temperature; it was unclear because the cab driver was simply allergic to good hygiene and topnotch customer service.

Why was I even in this godforsaken predicament? Ah yes, Ted did not go to work today.

Judging from his last night encounter; he would quit his job and tell me to shove this contract right up to my arse, and moan like a twink prostitute.

He had a colorful choice of words.

The screaming head of that succubus would have Ted question about the existence of the paranormal.

I should have been there for him once he awakened. But I was hoping that he would treat last night as a nightmare, or a dream of precaution from God, indirectly telling him to stop his promiscuous behavior.

That man's dick was more active than the Mayor.

I gave props to Ted though. His acting skills were good. He was able to fool those demons to think he was the real CEO of the company.

Other than acting, the way he went crazy for a woman's meat curtains would make any carnivore go vegan.

I rested my head on a headrest and rubbed my fingers on my umbrella's handle. The rain outside was heavily beating the top of the car.

Hopefully, Ted would accept our generous offer and forget about resigning.

Hopefully.

After a few more splashes of tires in puddles, we arrived in front of Ted's condo.

The house was a bonus in the contract we gave him last year. His previous house was a rat's hole but even rats would want to migrate somewhere better.

I paid the driver, thanked him for the mediocre cab service, and left cooly, after being called a nasty cunt.

Opening my umbrella I walked towards his gate, my leather shoes erupting a splat every time it came in contact with the wet ground.

Green luscious bushes; that Ted didn't bother trimming because he wasn't an irresponsible manchild, that had a severe case of priapism, grew uncontrollably around his white fence.

This was the perfect neighbourhood for him. It was private, peaceful, and clean. I was hoping that he would adapt to the clean part, but it turned out that the neighborhood should adapt to him.

/"It's Ian, open up,/" I uttered, placing my mouth close to the intercom next to his gate.

After what felt like years, the gate slid open, making a creaking noise.

He needed to grease his gate and not his hair.

I moved into the compound and heard the gate slid close. The house was exquisite. It had an Lshape structure and part of its walls were made of glass.

Good gracious, even the lawn wasn't mowed.

Fine, I'll ask Zara to hire housekeepers.

The ankle level of my black trouser was soaked by the persistent outburst of water from the heavens.

This was my favorite trousers.

Curse you Grandpa.

Approaching his black, metal door that had a golden knob, I closed my red umbrella and dropped it by the door side. My long fingers curled around the doorknob and I pushed it open.

Three white couches were forming a U shape in the middle of the living room. A fireplace that was burning earnestly with common earthly flames was placed in a wall.

A glass wall in the room revealed a pool that was now disturbed by the angry outburst of the rain. The white tiles below me reflected the white ceiling above me that had a huge chandelier hanging over the room.

The whole place was calm except for the heavy downpour that challenged its peace and serenity. The building looked just the way we bought it. Ted must've been too lazy to furnish the place.

/"Ted?/"

I perused the whole room, trying to see if I could catch a glimpse of him. My words just bounced off the walls of the room.

When I found out that it was useless calling his name, I climbed the stairs next to me. My feet falls were mimicked by the neighbouring walls. I got to the next floor and was welcomed by a long hallway.

It stretched itself to the far end of the building. I knew Ted's room so I moved briskly towards his room's door. When I reached his doorstep, I entered without knocking.

I cocked my head when I noticed a black luggage bag with clothes popping out carelessly from each of its sides. My arms crossed over my chest when I unsurprisingly found pictures of naked pornstars plastered shamelessly on his walls.

But one picture, in particular, caught my interest.

It was the picture of a little girl, smiling innocently. Her hair was of perfect coal and she had the prettiest set of teeth. She wore a flowy pink polka dot gown.

The apple green globes in her eye sockets were similar to Ted's and this got me asking myself questions I didn't have the answers to.

The door at the end of the room swung open and I saw Ted move in swiftly.

His long black hair that formerly had curls below his earlobe was now a mess. Strands of his hair stuck out in awkward positions and intertwined.

He looked like he opted for a role in a scary movie. He had dark rings surrounding his eyes. He shoved clothes in the bag hurriedly, not caring if the bag had exceeded its capacity.

/"Where are you going?/" I asked, moving closer to him.

He shouted briefly, jumping backwards when I spoke. He placed a hand on his chest while trying to catch his heavy breaths.

He raised his hand and pointed at me before dropping it. /"What the hell Ian, you scared me! What do you want?/"

I put both hands in my pocket as I leaned on the wall next to me. /"I came here because my boss wants to offer you a new contract. It includes a huge increase of your salary. You'll now be earning times five of your current salary./"

There was no way a greedy dog like him would reject such a proposition.

/"I quit! You can shove your contract up your arse and moan like a twink prostitute!/"

Well, that's a first.

/"You can't leave, you're on a contract./"

A frown stuck to my face and I didn't see it dispersing anytime soon.

Ted was acting like...Ted.

/"You know what Ian?/" He trailed off his gaze from his box and glared at me. /"Fuck you, fuck Zara, and in fact, fuck your boss too. I don't want this job anymore. You guys can have this stupid condo back and your cash. If being the CEO of your company puts my life in danger, then count me out./"

This time, he was done with putting the clothes in the box and he then zipped it up. He took the picture of the little girl from his bedside table and put it in the outer pocket of his travelling case.

He held the box and moved towards me glaring at me with those eyes that still had boogers in them.

Would it make him less of a man to wash his face?

/"Get the fuck out of my way,/" he commanded when I did a crab sidestep to block him from leaving. He sighed and released his grip from the box handle. /"Move or.../"

/"Or what?/" I arched an eyebrow, twitching a corner of my mouth.

I didn't want to exchange words with him but the vibe he had been giving me since I came here gave me more than enough right to.

Plus it was fun messing with him.

Him and his human temper.

He sighed deeply and raised a hand over his face. /"If you were in my shoes Ian, what will you do?/"

/"I'll get a cleaner lifestyle, submit myself to Jesus, and promise to do my job right this time,/" I replied.

/"I'm putting my life at risk here,/" he screamed. /"Those things. What are those.../"

I placed my hand over his head and tapped into his mind. His body froze and he gaped at me with eyes wide open. Snapping my fingers, I replaced his last night memory with a less scary one.

I moved my hand away from him and he continued to speak.

/"Those thugs will get me! I owe them a shit ton of money!/"

Good thing I made him forget that he was attacked by demons.

/"Calm down Ted. What thugs?/" I asked pretending like I didn't know what I did to his memory.

/"You think this is about me don't you?/"

/"What do you mean? If it's not about you who's it about?/" I asked locking my brows.

/"You really wanna know?/" He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.

No, I don't, but go ahead.

I had 31 minutes to spare before lunchtime.

I nodded my head and stared down at his frame. /"Yes, I do. Cause I don't know why you can't risk for this job. What's so important to you other than money and boobs of women?/" My voice was higher than I expected it to be.

/"You don't understand!/" He yelled.

What a fucking drama queen.

/"You haven't told me anything how the fuck will I under/"

/"I've got a daughter Ian!/"
