#Chapter54
I wake up to the constant ringing of my phone on the nightstand. I groan in irritation. My family doesn’t call me at this time if it’s not an emergency. I’m not expecting any call from anyone either. For sure, I am going to throw this person into the pit of hell for disturbing my sleep. He better has something good to say to me.
I rub my eyes and pick up my phone—it’s only eleven in the morning as I check the time on the screen.
Shit!
Why is she calling me?
/"Ms. Chen?/" I answer lazily.
/"Mr. Hughes, I-I need your help. Y-you told me to call you if she needs help, right?/" Ms. Chen sounds frightened.
/"Ms. Chen, perhaps you should talk calmly otherwise I can’t understand what you are about to say. What’s wrong?/" My brows knit as I wait for her to answer. I sit and lean my back against the headboard, scratching my head.
/"Ms. Mendéz is crying, I mean terrified. I-I mean shocked./"
