We continued eating mom and Jermaine having their own little conversation while I continued to watch Avery eat her breakfast. After we finished I cleared the island and did the dishes. Soon after uncle Zander called to tell me he'd be over in a few minutes. Avery had gotten some syrup on her clothes so I took Avery back upstairs to give her a bath before he got here. Since she didn't have any clothes, mom asked one of her friends who had young daughters for something she could put on and Jermaine went to go get them. I decided I'd take Avery shopping later on to get her some clothes since we couldn't keep borrowing stuff for her.
When she striped off the sticky clothes I helped her to the bath and that's when I saw them. Huge scars on her back, some more recent than others. I felt Xavier growl in rage at what looked like she'd been whipped repeatedly. I slowly lifted my hands to trace the longest from her neck and ended mid back.
