As Raven popped the end off another candy cane, crunching it between his molars and swallowing while the shards were still large enough to impale his throat, something resembling contentment had settled down beside him like a long-lost friend.
He was happy.
He was happy, and for the first time in his life, that alone was enough. The need for more, to find more, to have more, to obtain more until there was nothing left for him to have, it had silenced. Had fallen dormant beneath the swoon of canary-like chirps of his heart's affliction.
And man, that was a wonderful, wonderful thing.
