As sunlight fell against the side of his face in tranquil waves, surrounding him in an aura of gold, it occurred to me that perhaps I had been a little bit hasty with my verdict.
It was a magical moment. It was an eternity pressed into the space between one breath and the next. Dust particles lazed in the air, resembling specks of glitter, and I couldn't seem to tear my eyes away from the way his eyelashes kissed against his flesh every time he blinked.
It was magical, but even the most enchanting of times had to end. As though finally noticing my presence, Daddy's head lifted. Piercing, two arrows that struck my heart with soul-warming force, his eyes found mine. A deliciously delightful smile curved his mouth, the contrast of his shiny white teeth against his sun-kissed flesh enough to make my tummy feel funny.
