/"Whatever you've done, Isaac, let me help you./"
/"You can't./" I broke. My voice, it fractured. My resolve, it crumbled. My grip on reality . . . it was like a string that had been cut. Spiralling down the rabbit hole I went, dizzy and sick, the darkness of the unknown that waited at the bottom for me far more terrifying than any horror villain.
/"Just . . . try,/" she breathed, her own expression mirroring my pain.
I struggled to sit up. Every bone protested, trembled beneath the strain. I looked her dead in the eye.
They said a mother's love was infinite. It was time to test that theory; could she still love a creature as vile as me?
/"There is somebody who cares a lot about me./" Choked with emotion, my tone was three octaves higher than it usually was and each word had to fight tooth and claw to come out. /"And I hurt them. Over and over. And I want to stop but I can't stop./"
