#Chapter277
Once I reach the hardheaded toddler I immediately pull her head above the water.
Maple violently coughs and gasps as I use my good arm to hold her close to my side.
Thank goodness!
'I didn't kill anyone else' I mentally sigh out with relief
I struggle to carry her back towards the shore due to not only my boots feeling heavy but my cast covered arm feeling heavy as well.
It takes me a few moments, but I am able to successfully get Maple close to shore.
Just as I go to walk up the hill to shore one of my feet get stuck on the bottom of the sticky lake ground.
What?
At first I gently try to pull it up, but slow and confused pulls quickly turn into rapid and terrified yanks.
Ugh!
I attempt to glance down at my foot but am unable to clearly see anything due to the lake water burning my eyes.
Everything from my waist and below is completely submerged under the water.
