Clouds move in with a rapid speed, blotting out the sun, and the wind whips the dark waters of the Kafue River into a frenzy; the waves toss the launch from side to side.
The storm comes upon them in a rush of fury, lightning flashing across the sky. The thunder hammering down over their heads deafens them, as the rain engulfs them, and the sky hurls hail at the earth as if in anger.
The day turns to night as the full force of the storm descends down onto the river. The water churning around the launch, the waves from the wind playing a steady beat against the hull. The pilot fights with nature to get the boat safely to the other side. The prow of the launch slams into the rising waves, as it’s tossed around like a toy boat in a bath, the deck slick from the falling rain. They find themselves having to hold onto whatever is near, to keep their balance and to stop themselves from going overboard, into the dark murky waters of the river.
