I failed to get away.
I failed Zeiden, the man who struggled to free me. I failed my mother, the woman who wanted nothing but for me return home. I failed Jason. The man who I wanted to be with.
Shit. Honestly, did I really believe I would outrun a werewolf?
I ran as fast as my feeble legs would take me. That was until one of Kane’s men caught up to me, and dragged me right back to the house.
I found Zeiden standing behind Kane. He kept his head high, but I could not ignore the look of defeat that was lingering in his eyes when he saw me. Kane pushed me to the ground before he positioned me in front of him. In front of Jason.
He was standing there. Every emotion I could think of was resting on his face. Anger. Sorrow. Disappointment. Guilt. I yearned to hear his voice, but the anger that blossomed from the surrounding wolves made that impossible.
