#Chapter16
Coping
Mack
Paige and I talked about what happened at the diner. I have surmounting medical and other bills. I lost my funding for school and was left with more issues than a magazine.
Great. Not only were we sinking into insurmountable debt, but I couldn’t even take care of Paige. I felt like a failure and wasn’t myself.
As the mail came in, so did the bills. I never planned on giving Paige any of this. It was time to give her a break. She didn’t deserve to have to deal with debt while I was stuck.
She came home to find me packing. /"What are you doing?/" Her voice surprised me.
I cringed, hoping I was gone before she got here. /"I’m saving you./" I zipped up the bag.
She walked over to me. /"Saving me? It seems like you’re running away,/"
/"Paige, you don’t deserve to get stuck with my debt and someone who’s useless. You deserve better./"
