My parents brought me home from the hospital. I walked into the house and sat down on the couch. I had to be careful with my arm until I got my cast.
Mom went into the kitchen to make me something to eat. Dad walked over and sat on the coffee table in front of me. I couldn’t look at my dad. I know he’s disappointed with me.
/"How long has this been happening?/" Dad asked me.
/"It started the week they had suspended Casey./"
Dad furrowed his brows.
/"The physical part started a few weeks later. Trent told me that he had bad days. My gut told me to run./" I wouldn’t look at my dad.
My face had bruises and became swollen from Trent’s assault. Tears fell down my cheeks as I sat there.
/"Coop, I grounded you to keep you safe./"
I stared at my dad in surprise. He gave me an emphatic look.
