After that day, I tried to avoid Selena, but my family had other ideas. I tried to sit next to two of my brothers, who changed seats. I would be in school, and somehow, we ended up around each other with my brothers disappearing on me. I swear a conspiracy was happening here.
Payton finally confronted me about what was happening.
/"Dare I ask, why are you avoiding the elephant in the room?/" I heard someone ask.
I turned to see Payton standing at my doorway.
/"I’m not avoiding but giving space. A lot of space,/" I sighed as someone walked in and plopped down on my bed.
/"More like running away,/" Kaxon added as he picked up a magazine and flipped through it.
I snatched the magazine out of his hands.
/"Shouldn’t you be hanging with the demon spawn?/" I questioned with irritation.
/"They aren’t home,/" he shrugged.
