I waited. My dad and uncles were quiet, which was unnerving.
/"Lu, we loved it,/" Dad said, as the rest of them agreed. That shocked me.
/"You’re not mad?/"
/"How can we be mad? It was honest,/" Nixon said.
/"Real,/" Nathan said.
/"Funny,/" Noah said.
/"And captured us for who we are,/" Nolan said.
That made me happy. I was so afraid that my dad and uncles would hate it.
/"Baby girl, you have genuine writing talent. Your mom and I are proud of you,/" Dad told me as the others agreed.
/"I’m glad because I thought the book would disappoint you./"
/"I know it seems like it would disappoint us, but it didn’t. Your mother and I are proud of you. No matter what happens, we love you five more than life itself,/" he told me, which thrilled me.
/"How did you get a copy of the book?/"
/"Not a clue. It arrived one day,/" Nixon said.
