I sat at my desk, working on a model car, when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I saw Dad standing there. I turned on my hearing aids.
/"Elias, we told you not to turn off your hearing aids,/" Dad said.
/"I enjoy the silence./"
/"I know. If something happens, you might not see the flashing lights./"
I sighed. My parents worry about me. Sometimes, silence is golden, especially in this house. My brothers drove me nuts.
My feet felt a thumping against the hardwood floor. Then I saw Owen in my doorway. Dad left my room as Owen strolled over to the bed and plopped down. I swiveled my desk chair.
/"Are you hanging in your room, or do you want to create havoc?/" Owen asked with a mischievous look.
I smirked.
