While I was home, I adjusted to my meds. I appeared like myself for once. Nothing seemed out of control. Val stopped by, as did the guys to check on me. My mood had become better. For over ten minutes, I could tolerate being around people.
I still needed time to adjust to the meds. Jordan said it’ll take two weeks. While I was home, I found out Brent would not press charges. People had persuaded him it was time for a change of scenery. I didn’t have any remorse. The guy was an asshole and deserved it.
I still had doubts about Val and Ryder not liking each other. I guess I’m paranoid. History has a way of rearing its ugly head. One night, I discovered laughter coming from my brother’s room—female laughter, to be exact.
I got out of bed to find out what flavor of the week it was this time. I received a surprise of my own. I stood at the door as Ryder said between laughs.
