I woke up every day with my family giving me the same expression. Their expressions put me in a foul mood. I sat at breakfast, quieter than usual, moving my food around with my fork. They glanced at each other. I had enough and got up.
I left, heading to school. I didn’t bother to wait for the others. What’s the point?
As I made my way to the parking lot, the guys leaned against Ryder’s car, waiting for me. Fuck.
/"When you going to stop beating yourself up, brother?/" Ryder asked.
/"When the past stays in the past,/" I countered.
/"You worry, Mom and Dad?/"
/"Why? So they can remind me of what a fuck up I am. No thanks./"
I had a harshness to my tone.
/"Ryker, let the past go, man. What happened affected us, too,/" Evan said.
/"You don’t think I realize that? I live with the past with Dad criticizing me,/" I retorted.
