A fresh life in the making
I reached over and placed my ring hand on her swollen belly. Then I put my ear to her stomach and could feel the baby kick. Then I turned and said, /"Hey, little one. It’s me, your daddy. You need to settle down and give your mommy a break. We can’t wait to meet you./" Then I felt a hand reach up and rub the back of my head. I looked up. /"Did I wake you, baby?/"
/"No, junior did,/" she said with a smile. Yes, we were having a boy. I didn’t want to give him my name, so we were still deciding on a name. Matt and Scarlett were having a boy, and Liz and Drew have twin boys. Scarlett and Liz settled down. They were still nuts, and we ended up having company as Matt and Drew at our house often.
We ended up moving into a house shortly after the wedding. Both of us went to work with mom at the publishing company, along with Matt. You could call it a family affair.
