#Chapter297
Rumors, gossip, and other bull
Mack
Monday at school was so special. You hear so many things about yourself you never knew about yourself. Rumors are that stories—the same with gossip. I tried my best to ignore most of it, but it was hard.
Most of the day was like that, and the boys wanted to do some damage, but RJ had to wrangle them in. He was right. As much as we wanted to throttle the people talking, which was the entire school, we had to refrain from it.
Then, as the whispering started, it stopped. People would turn away when they saw me coming or avoid me. I didn’t know which was worse. The gossip or treated as a pariah.
I was at my locker when I saw Melvin coming my way. Then he stopped, then pivoted and went the other way. What was that? I turned and saw some guy leave. I slammed my locker door shut and ran after him. He was walking out of the school with a bag hanging from his shoulder. His hands shoved into his pockets.
