I was at my locker, setting my books in it, when the guys walked up, talking about something. I wasn’t taking notice, lost in my thoughts.
Then Bella strolled over to me. /"How is your hand, Ryan?/"
/"It’s fine./" After what happened on Halloween, I had nothing to say to her.
/"Ryan, I want to apologize for that night. It was out of line./"
I paused and shifted to Bella while Jordan and Frazier peered around me. That drew our attention.
/"After giving it consideration, I recognized you’re not that kind of guy, and it was flippant./"
/"What kind of game are you playing?/" Jordan asked her.
/"I’m not playing a game./"
/"Guys, I think she’s genuine,/" Frazier said. /"Why don’t we offer her a chance?/"
I thought about it. People make mistakes, and the three of us have made our fair share.
/"Friends?/" She held out her hand.
