Chapter 5 - Jealous

Adams had a face void of any expression but the lady he was looking down at was smiling sheepishly.

When he noticed that they had been holding hands for quite a while now, he withdrew his own hand and turned to Naran.

" I'm leaving now". He said huskily and made an attempt to leave when he paused and spoke again.

" I'll leave my men here just in case any problem arises". Adams said referring to the three men that she was totally unaware of their presence.

" Yes". Naran replied simply with a slight nod as Adams left with the three other men following behind.

While h ander eyes were fully fixated on the man that had steady steps as he walked out of the hall.

" what was the meaning of what you just did? ". Naran's voice reverberated through the whole hall as she turned at her father. " why did you come here? I thought you went up to your room?".

Naran asked.

Arora smiled sheepishly before walking to her father and hugging his upper arm.

" Papa, could you still let me go to the city tonight?. I promise to be back early". She spoke with a convincing tone looking expectantly at the man who was staring at her with a frustrated look.

" You can't dear". he said after a sigh.

Arora disengaged their arms and pouted her lips as she looked into her father's eyes.

" But why papa?". she asked as she grabbed his arm and again and began shaking it unceremoniously." just this once, please!". she pleaded with him. She badly wanted to reach to the city today cause it has been a while since she last some bit of civilization.

Kabal had a little of civilization though, but it was not enough for her. The people here never thought of having the place growing. The buildings still had that old antique feelings and that wasn't what she wants.

If it weren't that she demanded for her room to be renovated, she would still have been using all antique wares.

Naran sighed heavily

" it's dangerous out there in the city". Naran said. He did not want to tell her the main reason why he had never let her been to the city where the rest of the werewolves stay. There were lots of crazy and maniac werewolves that normally have problem soothing their thirst and hunger for vulnerable werewolves's blood just like the crazy vampires out there too. But the vampires were different from the werewolves. At least, they do not harm each other like the werewolves did.

" Dangerous?". Arora gave him a doubtful look. Were the others not the same as them?. She wondered how the city was dangerous for her to go into.

" but...". She was about to continue to confirm what her father spoke when she saw the door to the hall open and the two people she absolutely didn't wish to see right now were faking a smile at her.

" Your majesty...." Senna bowed at Naran before throwing the smallish figure beside him a jealous stare. She stood straight and gestured Kona to greet her father.

" Good evening, father". Kona bowed with courtesy with a slightly bent knee and a pretentious smile on her thin lips.

Her eyes moved and they landed on Arora hugging their father's arm and jealousy filled her insides. She was always treated as an outsider by her own father, but when it comes to Arora, he treats like some valuable treasure and she usually hurts whenever she sees her father showing Arora so much favor than he did for her.

Naran did not reply and only gave a nod as he acknowledges her greetings .

He said to Arora ,

" go now and take a good night sleep".

Letting go of his hand, she didn't utter another word as she walked out not sparing Kona and her mother another stare.

As soon as she left, Senna walked closer to Naran and spoked with obvious jealousy in her tone of voice.

" you hardly pay any attention to Kona. She's your daughter too but it's like Arora is your only child and you surely know that this isn't fair in Kona's path ". Senna complained and scoffed. Naran was quiet.

" I even doubt if she's your real daughter". she added but still Naran was quiet making her rile even more. She squeezed her palms as she bit her lower lip staring at Naran. Senna turned at Kona who had dropped gaze on her fingers that she was playing with.

" Naran! you aren't saying anything". Her voice was not calm any longer.

Naran shifted his arm and grabbed her wrist tightly pulling her more closer to him, leaving few inches between them as he spoke hoarsely with a very dangerous look in his eyes.

" This is not the right place for this and don't get me started " his voice held this particular threat that always gave her shivers and her eyes bobbed in disbelief and fear, he was threatening her. After saying that, he left the hall.

Senna let out a sigh of relief as she stared at the closed door before gazing at Kona who had a look of disappointment in her eyes.

She felt pity. Kona had never felt her father's love and she has always been the one acting as both parents. Since she was born, Kona had always been bullied by her classmates for having no father and made a laughing stock.

They moved to stay with her father at age fourteen thinking something would have a change but nothing did change. Infact, he became more could towards them and hardly spent anytime with them.

" Kona...". Senna called out and Kona raised her eyes to meet her mother's.

They were wet but no trace of tears were on her face. " I promise to fix this, ok?".

" I'm jealous, mom. Arora always gets everything she wants while I get nothing. you must fix all this!". Kona shouted with anger at her mom before pacing out angrily.
