Chereads / Love Overture / Chapter 11 - A New World

Chapter 11 - A New World

Unlike most days when we meet, today it's just me and Yunasa. Everyone else either had plans or had to work, but it's an issue. Almost everything is already planned out so these meetings are more or less meaningless for the moment. However, as the event director and the teacher in charge of overseeing it, we have to come to these meetings no matter what.

This is the first time it's only been me and Yunasa, so it's been awkwardly quiet for pretty much the entirety of the time. Just the occasional small talk, but nothing like an actual meaningful conversation. Despite that, I don't find it awfully boring or anything. As an introvert, having these times of quietness is soothing.

Yunasa yawns and stretches her arms in the air. Her flowing green hair gently swaying and she fixes her posture, a little tear forming in her eyes. "Why are we even here?!" she shouted from the heavens, immediately destroying the once quiet classroom. "Everything is pretty much set in stone, so why do we need to continue meeting here three times a week?!"

I do get her annoyance because meeting up three times a week for something we don't really need to do anything for is a waste of time. We could just lie and say we did when we actually didn't, but Yunasa would probably get in trouble if we did that, so we decided at least the of us would come even though we don't do anything.

"As much as I like this peaceful time of the day, I do agree that it's a waste. We don't have anything to do until the festival gets closer so there really isn't much to do," I said, stretching in my chair. "I mean we could just figure out a way to kill time instead of just sitting here doing nothing."

Yunasa sighed. "Yeah, we could do board or card games, but that would only work when we have everyone here. It wouldn't really work that well with just us two."

She is right, as awkward as both of us are, it would definitely be a quiet game. The school is generally pretty empty too so we could really do anything and no one would really know.

"I could bring a game console in and we could connect it to the projector," I proposed. "I have an older retro one that I don't use back at my apartment. I'd be willing to bring it in and we could play it if you wanted?"

There wasn't anything else that came to mind honestly. At least with video games, we can talk while we play. At least, more than we would with normal card and board games.

Yunasa rests her chin on her finger. "I don't think anyone would have an issue with that. What kind of games do you have?"

"Just older ones like simple racing and fighting games. I got a few co-op platformers if you're more into those types of games." She seemed like the kind of person who enjoys working together more than playing against each other.

"Hmm..." she closes her eyes and thinks about it for a moment. "Oh! Would you happen to have Minecraft?"

"Yes?" There isn't a person in the world who doesn't know that game, but I think I see where she's going with this. "Do you want to start a split-screen co-op world?"

Her eyes sparkle with excitement. "Yeah! I'm not gonna lie, I'm not all that great at the game, but I do like to play it by myself from time to time. It's a good stress reliever and a nice game to relax to."

"Okay, well if you want, since we've stayed the time we are supposed to for the meeting..." My eyes dart side to side. Even though she's a potential partner and I know she is interested in me, it doesn't make inviting a woman over to my apartment any easier. "Do you wanna come over and we can start playing it today?"

Yunasa jumps on the idea immediately. "Of course!"

I head home first to clean up my apartment while Yunasa heads to her apartment to get changed from her school attire. She lives a decent bit away from me so I should have plenty of time to get everything set up. I grab the console from my room and bring it to the living room. Luckily I went grocery shopping recently so I have plenty of snacks and drinks for us to have while she's here.

I got into some comfy clothes for lounging and put a couple of popcorn bags on the counter, just in case we got into a super comfy atmosphere and wanted to chill and watch a movie or something. The more I think about it, the more I'm realizing how much I want this to turn into a cozy house date.

I hear a knock at the door. "The door is unlocked!" I yelled from the kitchen.

The door then gently opens and I hear a soothing, motherly voice. "Pardon the intrusion..."

I peak around the corner and see Yunasa dressed up in a loose white T-shirt and a pair of jeans that outline her curves. "Come on in..." my voice trails off, stunned by the beauty at the entrance of my apartment.

She takes off her shoes and sets a bag down next to her. "Oh, do you mind if I use your room real quick? I have a pair of sweatpants in my bag that I wanna change into. I didn't feel quite comfortable walking around in public with them," she admitted.

"Yeah, go ahead..." I said, staring at her as she made her way to my bedroom. My eyes can't help but focus on the nice, round butt as she walked. The door closed to my room and brought me back to reality.

Okay, this may be a tough night...

I needed to vent my urges and worries to someone, so I text Jay and let him know what's going on.

"If you don't make a move on her tonight, I will never forgive you!" was the only thing I got in response.

After a moment, Yunasa comes out in baggy, black sweatpants. It hides her curves, but contrasting what I had seen just before and knowing what figure she had, makes it all the more alluring. I am aware of what she is doing, and I am going to have to fight demons to restrain myself from her.

"Would you like a drink?" I asked, trying to keep my distance for the moment.

On the contrary, Yunasa walks up and looks over my shoulder in the fridge, putting her chest on my back. "Oh, I'll take one of these," she childishly said as she reached in and grabbed it.

There are no words to describe the softness on my back besides angelic and stimulating.

She grabs her drink and makes her way to the couch where everything was set up. I take a deep breath and keep my head in the fridge.

Why is she so aggressive?! Not that I dislike it... but it's gonna be hard to control myself if this is how it's gonna be!

I grabbed my drink and made my way back to the living room, completely composed. I take a seat on the opposite side of the couch from Yunasa. "So, which controller do you want?"

She looked at the blue and green controllers. "Well, as green does seem to be a good color, I'll take that one." She reaches across and grabs the green controller from on top of the living room table. She hands the blue one to me. "Here you go."

Our fingers graze on the hand off and I immediately move my hand away. She looked at me, kind of shocked about my reaction. My eyes dart around frantically. "Oh, sorry!" I said out of panic.

Sensing my flustered actions, Yunasa laughed. "You're somehow acting even more flustered than you did the first time I came over!" She moved her face close to mine. "Are you that conscious of me now?" she whispered in my ear.

"Yes and if you keep making advances on me, I don't know how much longer I can control myself," I blurted out.

Yunasa froze for a moment, but soon moved back to her side of the couch. "Sorry..." she brought her legs up, hiding her face behind them.

I don't think it's her fault for making me feel overly conscious of her because I'm the one looking at her in that sort of way. With Yume and Ai, I can act normally around them because they are closer to my age. But Yunasa is a little older than me, not by a lot, but older nonetheless. Because of that, I can't help but look at her in a more mature way.

"It's alright, but I'm just warning you in case things go in that direction..." I politely said as I took a deep breath to compose myself.

I turn on the console and boot up the game. We spawn in the middle of a forest, so we spend the first bit just collecting wood.

"So, are you more a miner or a house builder?" I asked, trying to gauge how to go about things. "I'm more of a house builder myself, but I don't think both of us need to build a house at the same time."

"To be honest, I do like building a house before I go mining. It doesn't have to be a normal house. I like to build one in the side of a hill or mountain first since it takes less time to make." She looked over at me with a cute, childish expression. "So, what are we gonna do?"

Why can she switch from being so hot to so cute at the drop of a hat?!

"I guess I'll let you take the lead and let you find a spot you like, then we'll go from there."

We wandered off in a random direction, going wherever we felt like. We passed by a couple of villages and absolutely ransacked them for every useful resource they had. We went into a few shallow caves to try and find some coal and maybe some iron, and before long we had filled out inventories to the max.

"Alright, well I think the next decent looking mountain or hill we come across, we should make our house spot," I asserted.

"No need, I found a perfect spot here," she announced confidently.

I make my way to where she's at and I can agree, she did in fact find a perfect spot. There was a giant lake surrounded by a good bit of flat area and trees, and with all that being surrounded by high hills. It was as if the game was trying to hide it from us.

"Yup, this looks like quite the find."

We made our way down into the caldera of open space and picked a side where we wanted the mountain house. Yunasa immediately starts digging into the mountain while I make a mine nearby. By the time I got the mine sorted out, the foundation of the mountain house was made and we had the bare necessities laid out.

"Alright, while you work on this, I'm gonna mine a little bit," I told her as started making my way to my mine shaft.

"Wait a minute!" I stop running and turn back to face her. "Why don't we work on the house together, then go mining together the next time we play?" She scooted closer to me on the couch. "I like the feeling of doing things together. It makes it feel like we are actually building a sort of life together in the game."

Considering how she'd been acting recently, I was caught off guard a little bit by the wholesomeness. I turned my character around and ran back to the "house." We spent the next half an hour or so making the rooms and replacing the stone walls with wooden planks, to make it feel a little more homey. Usually, it would've taken a lot longer, but since we were working on it together, it didn't really take that much time at all.

"I'm pretty happy with how it looks," Yunasa cheerfully said. "What do you think of it?"

"Honestly, it looks a lot better than if I did it by myself," I laughed.

I was more of an exterior house designer, not so much the interior, so all of the houses I built would look really nice on the outside, but would be very empty and bland on the inside. From what I can tell, Yunasa is the opposite and focuses more on the interior, which is a nice compliment to have.

We took another look around our new mountain house and I could tell Yunasa felt satisfied from the smile across her face. I think back to what Yunasa said earlier about doing stuff together, and as cliche as it was, it held some water. Even something as small as this feels like we just accomplished something together and somehow brought us closer.

"What do you say we end it here for today?" Yunasa asked, stretching out her legs.

I don't know if it was just me, but when she stretched, she let out a small moan and my ears immediately perked up at the sound of it. To be fair, I also grunt a little when I stretch, but hers was a little more seductive than I imagined.

"Yeah, I think that's fine. We don't wanna get too much done all in one day. We've got the whole Summer to work on it." I got up and stretched my back. "So, what do you want to do now? I didn't really have anything else planned to be honest."

"Hmm..." she looked around the room and saw the popcorn sitting on the counter. "Why don't we watch a movie?"

Well, that wasn't my initial intention, I won't argue with laying around and watching a movie. I have plenty of streaming services where we can watch whatever we feel like, and I got some movies on DVD as well. Most of them are older hand me downs, but I still like to watch them from time to time.

"I'll get the popcorn ready, so you go ahead and pick the movie you wanna watch. Just nothing horror please," I pleaded.

She smirks as she goes through my movie catalog. "Oh? You're not a big fan of horror movies? You aren't able to sleep by yourself at night if you watch one?"

I've never been big on horror so she hit the nail right on the head. I don't mind watching them with people, but once I'm home by myself, I will not sleep that night.

"Maybe..." I sobbed.

The sound and smell of the popcorn filled the kitchen quickly. I grabbed a big bowl from underneath the counter to put the popcorn in. After grabbing a few napkins as well, I carried the popcorn back to the living room where it looks like Yunasa had decided on a movie.

"You don't mind animated movies do you?" she asked. "This is one of my favorite movies from my childhood and I haven't seen it in a while."

"Do I look like the type to not like animated movies? I watch a lot of anime so it definitely doesn't bother me. If anything, I prefer them over live action ones," I laughed.

Live action movies just lack the appeal to me. I've seen a lot growing up, but even to this day, there hasn't really been any that had changed up the industry or had been a standout. On the contrary, when it comes to animated movies, the only limit is one's imagination. They can animate pretty much anything and with technology being as advanced as it is, they sometimes look a lot better than live action movies as well.

I set the bowl of popcorn down and made a quick trip to my room to grab a couple of blankets for us. I toss her the softer one and I wrap myself up in the other one I had.

"I didn't know if you were the type to watch movies wrapped in a blanket or not. I usually wrap myself like a burrito with my blanket," I joked as I completely wrap myself up. "The only thing is, it's hard to eat popcorn wrapped up like this because it restricts my arm movement."

Yunasa unwrapped me from my blanket and scooted right beside me. She threw my blanket off to the side and instead covered both of us with the one I gave her. It was easily big enough to cover both of us, and the softness of it is unmatched by any other blanket I own.

"Here, I feel like this is easier, and with our bodies this close, we can keep each other warm without us having to turn into human burritos," she giggled as she snuggled up onto me. She grabbed the bowl of popcorn and set it in her lap.

The animated movie she had decided on was a classic action drama about a kid who stumbles across a giant robot. He befriends the robot and they become friends. The giant robot promises to protect the young boy, but eventually the military finds out about its existence. Because of that, the military deems it too dangerous to exist and they fire a large missile to destroy it. However, it would also destroy all of the land around him and the people, namely the young boy. The giant robot sacrifices himself and destroys himself and the missile in the air, keeping everything and everyone safe, except himself.

"Don't you find the relationship between the giant robot and the boy very relatable?" Yunasa asked me. "It's like another guardian in his life besides his parents and they take care of each other."

"Yeah, I can see it that way. I always just imagined them as best friends and that's all because the giant robot does everything a best friend would do." I grabbed some popcorn and Yunasa smiled, snuggling up her head into my shoulder and neck space. Before long, all I can smell is her, which is a sweet, mature smell that put my nose on the ropes.

As the movie went along, the popcorn bowl had become empty. I shuffled to get up and get more, but Yunasa grabbed my arm and shook her head. "You can grab more when the movie is over..." She looked at me with an expression that looked lonely.

I smile and sit back down, covering myself in the blanket once again. "How many movies do you plan on watching tonight?" I teased.

Since the popcorn bowl was empty, I had put my hands under the blanket, and I suddenly felt a soft, warm feeling resting on top of it. "As many as we can to keep me here..." she whispered shyly. I look over at her and her hair is covering the side of her face so I can't see her expression well. Though, considering how warm her hand was, I can imagine she was pretty embarrassed.

"We'll watch one more after this, then I'll walk you to the bus station outside." I muttered as I looked in the opposite direction. "I don't want to keep you out too late at night, and staying at my apartment overnight is not an option as of now."

"As of now, huh?" She scooted back to my side and rested her head on my shoulder. She took my hand and held it on her lap, carefully and gently holding onto it with both of her hands.

As the movie reached the emotional ending, I could hear Yunasa sniffling. I could see in my peripheral, that her eyes were starting to water. She did look like the type to cry to sad things, but I was surprised to see her openly doing it in front of me. Most people usually hide their face when they cry.

"You want me to get you a tissue?" I politely asked.

"If you don't mind..." she sobbed. I went to the bathroom and grabbed the box for her. She took it as tears ran down her face. "Sorry for making you see this pathetic side of me. I'm very emotional when it comes to sad movies and shows."

I laughed as I took the empty bowl into the kitchen to refill it with popcorn. "I don't think it's a pathetic thing to cry. When you see something sad happen, it's natural to cry. If anything, I think crying is cool in a way." She looked over at me with a surprised expression. "Crying to a form of media like a movie or a book shows just how empathetic you are. That is by no means a bad thing because if anything, it shows just how big of a heart you have. Being able to see things from other people's shoes, especially a fictional character, is not an easy thing to do for some people. I cry to some sad movies and shows, but not all of them. You on the other hand look like you cry to almost everything sad."

She laughed while wiping away her tears. "That sort of feels like a backhanded compliment at the end there."

"I didn't mean for it to," I laughed in response. "I find it amazing that you're able to show your feelings and emotions so openly."

Her eyes widened and her cheeks blush red. "Now you're giving me too much credit..." She blew her nose a couple of times before getting up to throw the tissues away. "I cry to everything, like you said. I can't tell you how many times I've cried in my life so far, but it's been a lot." She walks to the kitchen and hugs me from behind. "I'm open with my feelings because I don't want to regret anything in the future. And if I hide my feelings, how will people know how I'm feeling?"

"I mean, you are pretty touchy so I'm sure your actions speak a lot too. You know what they say, actions speak louder than words." I rest my hands on Yunasa's as they wrap around my waist. "Now go on and pick the next movie. Pick one that isn't sad, unless you feel like crying again." I teased her.

"Maybe I will!" she retorted as she walked back to the couch.

As she looked through the catalog again, I went ahead and refilled our drinks. When I sat back down on the couch, she snuggled right up on me again. The first time, my heart was racing, but now I feel comfortable and cozy more than anything. Just having her here, leaning on me filled my heart with warmth.

"Oh, quick question before the next one, but what's your opinion on the giant robot?" she asked randomly.

"Like, what do I think about him? Like his character and his sacrifice?" I asked, to clarify. She nodded her head. "Uh, I guess I really like him? Like I said earlier, I always saw his character as a best friend to the boy so his sacrifice was sad, but it was really touching to see just how far he'd go for just some random boy he met on this planet."

Yunasa looked up at me. "You might think this is weird of me, but when I was little, I looked up to the robot a lot. I always wished I could be like him someday. I thought his sacrifice was very touching and I ever got put in a situation like that, I would hope I would do the same thing he did."

"You'd fly into a missile?" I jokingly questioned. "I don't think that's physically possible for a normal human being."

She smacked me on the side. "Not literally you idiot!" We both looked at each other and just laughed. "But honestly, I think sacrificing yourself for someone you care about is one of the most noble things you can do in life."

"Well for your safety, I hope a day like that won't come to you."

She grabs my hand and entwines her fingers with mine. "Me neither..."

The next movie we watched was an older animated film about a guy in a post-apocalyptic setting where he's a junker and tries to find any kind of usable machinery parts that he can sell on the market. He comes across an old planetarium where the machine that makes the stars appear is broken. He attempts to fix it, but sadly it doesn't work. At the same time, he meets a robot who was tasked with meeting guests who visited the planetarium and narrated the show when it happened. With her help, he fixes the machine and the robot gives him a proper show for himself. Because it is a post-apocalyptic setting and resources are hard to come by, this robot is slowly dying because of the lack of energy it has. The junker promises to take it with him and to find a new energy source so she can show the rest of the world the sky full of stars. But sadly, as he was escaping with her, another junker caught wind and attacked them, injuring the guy and destroying the robot he wanted to save. A true tearjerker than even I have trouble not crying to.

"You really are going back to back with sad movies..." I quietly whispered as we got comfortable.

This time, we didn't say a word throughout the whole movie. The two of us had been sucked into the movie and were completely immersed in it. This time however, when the emotional ending came up, Yunasa wasn't the only one crying. Luckily I had kept the tissues nearby, so we prepared this time around.

"Why did you pick this movie?!" I questioned Yunasa as I cried my eyes out. "I've seen this movie so many times and I can't stop crying to it."

"I don't know! You called me out for picking something sad, so I called your bluff and picked another sad one, but I didn't think it would be this sad!" she yelled back as she bawled. "Why did the robot have to die?! They were innocent and did nothing wrong!"

"Right?! The robot deserved so much better!"

The two of us sat there on the couch, crying for the next half an hour. Every time we'd get a moment of silence, we'd think back to the scene and start crying again. Just a couple of crybabies enjoying their time together.
