"So, did the you do the project?" I asked as I settled down on a chair in front of the table in the library.
"Uhu" he said grabbing some sheets from his bag.
"Okay let me hear it" I said.
He exhaled before he started.
"To everyone that reads Romeo and Juliet, it is a novel that depicts love between two teenagers who pass through tough circumstances just to be together and died in love and died for love.
But in reality, and from the way I see things, it's not.."
"Why do you say so?" I said cutting him off.
He looked away from the paper and at me.
"Obviously it's a fairy tale, brought out from someone's imagination, I mean think about it. The whole world is living and building castles and dresmi on someone's imagination."
"But in some cases, it does become a reality you know" I said.
"Reality of what exactly? I mean the only reason why Romeo went for Juliet was because Juliet's cousins rejected him, he never came to that ball for Juliet, he came for another person and then decided to mend his broken heart by sticking with Juliet" he said.
"That's not true" I defended.
"But it is, he even fell in love with her while she was wearing a mask, so assuming she removed the mask and she was ugly, he probably would have left her for another girl" He added.
"That's not true, love in their content was blind" I said.
"Love is blind? Then tell me, why do you think people only go for the physical appearance" he asked.
"That's the thing, this generation is trash" I said.
"No it's not just this generation, it's a generalized thing Brittney, it's everywhere. You read novels a lot and you only hear them giving praise to the physical appearance of beauty; how her eyes glittered under the moon matching with her smooth skin and whatever. Never heard a situation where the heart is given praise too. If you want to give love a definition, don't give it to Romeo and Juliet, give it to Wuthering Height.
That book depicts the true definition of love without bounds.
Heathcliff loved Catherine even to death, Catherine loved Heathcliff even in the circumstances he found himself inside, he was an outcast ugly and dirty and she still loved him even in his unfortunate form, she didn't love him because of the money she loved him for who he was."
"Catherine and Heathcliff's love was obsessive"
"Love is supposed to be obsessive, don't you understand? the real definition of love is supposed to be that way, it's quite unfortunate that our definition of love is completely different from the true meaning of it. This is why I can't write a literature exam because nobody wants to hear this part of the story, they want to hear what they want to hear...a prince meets a beautiful fair lady and then they are connected by emotions and boom they fall in love and get married and live happily ever after" he said.
"Exactly" I said.
"But Disney lied to us Brittney, they lied to us, told us a true love kiss will bring us from our darkest side to the brightest, told us we'll all eventually meet a prince charming that will love us forever, told us to believe in Happy ever after but a lot of marriages end even till today, they told us Cinderella lived happily ever after, but they never told us that the same price charming in Cinderella's story was the same prince charming who was ridding through the woods and met Snow-white and gave her a true love barbaric kiss, and was the same prince charming who found Rapunzel and met her in the tower , it was all a lie Brittney, all a lie."
I just stared at him, unable to say anything. if I was hearing this from someone like Carl or Francis, it wouldn't be too surprising, but Aaron?? it was something to be surprised about.
He didn't look like someone that was into romance novels and all, but then I remembered that he has a library in his possession.
Aaron wasn't the play boy kinda type, he was just there, in between, he flirts a lot and all, but I've never really heard anyone say that Aaron broke anyone's heart or whatever, it was usually Josh.
"So wait, I'm sorry but, how come you know so much about love and all but like you said you've never been in love?" I asked.
He sighed ," Look I've been attracted to a lot of girls, as much as you can think of and all, but the thing is. I'm only physically attracted to them, I mean that's the usual thing here, I just haven't found someone that I'll say I'm in love with...and I don't even think I'm gonna start going crazy over someone and all that.. thats why we stay toxic, to avoid things like this... maybe I might fall in love, but till then, stay woke" he ended smirking.
"Okay I see why your last tutor ran away from you" I said laughing.
"Oh really?" he said smiling.
"Yeah you need a psychiatrist or a therapist, you sound like you're insane" I said still laughing.
"I drive my therapist crazy" he said running his hands through his hair.
I unconsciously bit my lips, yes this was me lusting over his physical appearance like how I do so on Tyler p and Kim Taeh Yung my two celebrity crushes.
"Look I really admire your ideas, your thoughts, I like that you think outside the box, I like that you see things from a different angle, but then remember you're doing this for your grades, just put whatever they want to hear and move on with it, situations that you can go outside the content is when you're asked to write from your own view, or write your thoughts on the context, that's when we could make it happen, but for now, stick to Cinderella lived happily ever after and don't talk about the part that she got divorced." I said.
"Well then I guess I'm gonna need your help with that" he said smiling. I nodded.
We had a longer lesson since it was Saturday, honestly we had fun ...no wait..I had fun arguing about novel characters and all. It was the first time in my life that I had an actual conversation with someone who wasn't part of my family and didn't have to worry about me and worry if I stop breathing or not.
It was the first time I felt so alive talking about something I loved doing, talking to novels and romance and fantasies and everything related to writing, and I was happy with my self.
About few minutes past 6pm, we decided to call it a day.
My parents told me to spend as much time as I wanted to because at least it kept me out of my house.
"Today was fun" he said walking me to his car... wait this wasn't the same car he used to drop me off the other day. Crazy rich people.
"Yeah I guess so" I said smiling.
"I didn't know you could say something other than 'he' " he teased.
I giggled.
We got into his car and he drove me off to my house and dropped me off.
"We'll see on Monday then?" he said.
"Sure" I said and walked into my house.
As soon as I opened the door, I met my mom and dad standing right in front of the door grinning like children staring at me.
"Oh, your dad was right, he's cute" my mother said grinning.
I rolled my eyes and walked passed them.
" What's his name?" my mother asked following me into the kitchen.
"Aaron" I said getting myself a glass of water From the fridge.
"Ouuuuu, sounds sooo cute" my mother said squealing like a teenage highschool girl.
. Sometimes I used to ask myself how their lives were before they got married, because they acted like kids!!
"I'm just tutoring him, that's all" I said pouring the glass of water in the cup.
"Such a cute love story, it all started with after school lessons" My dad chirped in.
I rolled my eyes, they were just over excited because I had finally spoken to a human being, and I was finally going out.
I began drinking the water, but it all went wrong and I started coughing, choking on it.
First it wasn't so serious, and then, I couldn't breathe again and I started gasping for air.
My parents immediately ran to me.
"Honey are you okay?"
"Breath sunshine breath"
But it only got worse and I was on the floor gasping for breath.
My mother ran to get my inhaler and my dad immediately called my doctor who immediately sent the ambulance.
Luckily, my mother was a nurse, so she could handle most of these things and she quickly got the emergency oxygen tank and used it to calm me down. I started getting my breath slowly and then the ambulance arrived.
I didn't know what happened to me after I entered the ambulance, but I know I closed my eyes.
