Abigail's mind was still foggy from sleep as she heard Christopher's urgent voice, cutting through her drowsiness. She blinked a few times, gradually becoming aware of the situation. Her hand moved to rub her eyes as she tried to focus on him, her heart skipping a beat as she saw him fully dressed in his formal attire, ready to leave.
Abigail couldn't help but feel a mixture of surprise and curiosity. She shifted on the bed, sitting up slowly, the cotton sheets pooling around her waist. The lingering effects of her discomfort from the previous night made her wince as she gripped her head, her fingers stroking her temples.
Christopher walked out of the closet but paused as he gazed at her. He felt sorry for disturbing her sleep. "I'll be there in a while."
He hung up the phone and tucked it inside his coat pocket. He approached her with that familiar smile on his lips.
