There was a silence on Michael's side as if he were contemplating his words. "What plan?" His pointed question came out of the phone.
"I'd like you to keep an eye on Paul," Jasper said, sounding more like pleading with him rather than commanding him.
"Is this your plan?" Michael growled.
Jasper expounded his idea. "It strikes me that Paul is scheming something sinister, Michael," he posited. "Why else would he seek armaments in such a surreptitious manner? If they genuinely required supplies, they could have simply approached us directly. I suspect Paul is plotting something malevolent. Find out what he has been up to."
Michael couldn't brush off his words. When he contemplated what Jasper had said, he realized that something was indeed fishy about Paul's demand. He nodded, acknowledging that caution was essential when dealing with a crafty individual like Paul.
