The sun had just risen over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the house as Christopher prepared to leave for the office. Abigail watched him, a mixture of emotions swirling within her. Though she was hurt that he hadn't spent much time with her in the morning, she couldn't help but feel a spark of hope. Last night's gesture had given her reason to believe that he still cared for her and that there was a chance for reconciliation.
As Christopher grabbed his briefcase and headed towards the door, Abigail's heart skipped a beat. She knew she had to make the most of this opportunity to show him that she was willing to put in the effort to make things right between them.
She hurried over to him and stood in front of him, looking into his eyes. She had so many things to say, but words refused to come out of her mouth.
"I might get home late tonight," Christopher said. "I have a meeting that's going to run quite late."
