As the Mercedes came to a halt, the wheels screeched on the asphalt.
Vivian's body moved forward and then came back quickly. She turned her head frantically to her right, her hair flying over her face. She glared at Eddie, who was clutching the steering wheel with an angry look on his face.
She was enraged as well. "If you want to die, die alone. Why are you dragging me along?"
He remained quiet, looking ahead.
She watched his hands roll over the steering wheel. "What did I do to offend you? Why are you upset with me? All I asked was that you drive me back home. But you… you… brought me to an unknown place."
She looked at her surroundings with apprehension. They had come far from the city, and the road had no streetlights. It was getting late, and the darkness made her feel uneasy.
