As I watched my Bloodlust Avatar beat the breaks off of the whip wielding mutant, I found myself at a loss. (Is there any way to modify my Avatar? Its movements are stiff, with too many blind spots and weaknesses.) Even since I can remember, I have been trying to split my computation ability between many different tasks performed all at once. On the outside, that seemed to be a wonderful thing to achieve.
I mean…. Who in your friend group can you honestly say their able to literally split their consciousness between 10+ precision requiring tasks? None, right? Well, I do just that every time I enter the smithy, crafting thousands if not millions of items. Or whenever I cast a rain of different spells, completely overwhelming my enemies before they even notice their new residency in hell… Or when using an Avatar that has more limbs than necessary, each requiring pinpoint accuracy or I might accidentally kill the wrong target.
All that multitasking has made my combat style a complete mess. Therefore, I decided to use this moment as a means to simplify my Avatar's fighting capabilities. Hopefully, I might learn something along the way. Something like… how to breakthrough to the next stage, maybe?
Using the Avatar's current battle, I started reducing the number of spells cast, until only Elemental Saber Arts were left. I've reached a proficiency with this arcane art to the point of instinctual evocation. Next I began to reduce the number of arms from 6 to 4 and then 2. During this entire transition, the whip wielding mutant was on the backfoot.
Lastly, I only used my aura to reinforce the Avatar. During this process, a black, lightless barrier covered the Avatar. I pictured the barrier getting smaller and smaller, imagining it was skin tight light spandex. This resulted in the black lightless barrier retracted until it look almost like a filmy residue covering the Avatar.
Although I knew I would need to work on this a little more, I was satisfied with my results. By reducing the number of spells and only having the aura shroud the Avatar as closely as possible, I increased its overall firepower. 30 minutes later, the whip mutant lay in a puddle of its own blood as I retrieved it Aura Avatar whip.
Once finished, I surveyed the ensuing battle and noticed my forces were pushing the horde back, but at a high price. With the spell Elemental Fallout still in hand, I used Thought Speech to get my forces to retreat for a moment.
"Attention everyone!!! Erect a thick wall along the frontline. Afterwards, retreat 8km from the frontline. I will be releasing a spell of mass destruction!"
Hearing my cry, the abyssal elves, the children and my party started to form joint ramparts of earth, wood, and ice. Even the dungeon monsters under the direction of the lesser treant started retreating from the frontline, with trees sprouting along where the ramparts were being constructed.
During this process, I had sent out my Avatar to fire a barrage of sword waves along the frontline. The attack left none of the mutant horde standing, killing anything in the way, After 2 hours, a 30m tall, 20m wide, and 100km long rampart made of many different elements and materials was formed. Once fully established, my forces fled 20km away instead of 8km. Some were still deep in battle with the Aura Avatar wielding mutants, but still managed to fulfill my orders down to the letter.
Once I noticed everyone was at a safe enough distance, I ascended into the air. Before firing my Elemental fallout spell, I needed to gather most of the horde into one place. This would include getting the aerial monsters to swarm that location as well. Focusing on my Bloodlust Avatar, I made it grow to a height of 150m, possess all 12 of its original arms and weapons and fire sword wave after sword wave towards both land and air monsters.
The waves killed some monsters, but antagonized the rest, causing them to swarm the giant avatar. I then had the Avatar walk another 2km away from the ramparts, taking the swarms with it. The entire spectacle was weird to behold. It was like 2 nests of ants were ganging up on a spider or scorpion. Wherever their perceived enemy went, they followed after.
As I floated above the horde, my demeanor swiftly change to that of an apathetic blood monger. Calling back my Avatar swiftly, the swarm lost their target only to hear a whistling sound from my swiftly descending spell.
Wiiieeeooouuu… BOOOMMMM!!!
The almost nuclear spell left devastation in its wake. Mutant monsters were vaporized before they could utter as much as a yelp. The air surrounding the blast zone react temperatures which cooked the flying monsters instantly from the inside, leaving only bunt husks. The shockwave beat upon the ramparts, tearing away more than half of its width.
Lastly, a half a kilometer deep crater with a diameter of 8km sat at the blast sight. Thick blooming clouds of dust and magoi particles floated in the air around the crater. This was the most satisfying sight to behold. Not wasting any more time on the devastation I wrought, I summoned my Bloodlust Avatar once again, and through Thought Speech shouted,
"The filth of the serpent invader has been decimated! Charge now and rid this dungeon of its defilement!!"
My Shout was accompanied my war cries from all over. My dungeon forces taking to the sky and sprinting across the land, all heading towards the titanic battlefield between Midgardsormr and the 4 floor Guardians. Right when I was about to fly forward as well, Dori issued an alert.
"Notice. Dungeon energy reserves at 20%. Recent energy conversion caused by unknown summoning request reduced the overall eta for energy restoration. Initializing energy distribution to existing floor guardians, standby…"
"Floor guardian protection is now active with an energy drain of 100 units per minute. Alert Energy reserve depletion in 4 hours and 30 minutes."
Well… This is music to my ears! The floor guardians now have their dungeon provided immortality again! With this, I believe it well past time to get rid of this snake once and for all!
