Chapter 2 - A girl with a unique her

Blood dripped from Akira's head as the force of Shingiam's blow tore through his skin, and broke the ruler clean in half. Without a second noticed, Shinigami yet again hit him with the half broken over and over again, until Akira was knocked out and on the brink of death. The only thing anyone could do was stand there, terrified, as fear covered their entire body like newly hatched baby spiders.

'W-what is going on!? Why is a teacher beating up student? Why can't I move? Why isn't anyone doing anything?' Keisuke mind was filled with many things as he watches the bloodbath in front him, having a front row seat to the carnage.

Having seen it so up close, he was confused and unable to comprehend what was happening to say the least. Then suddenly, he felt as if every food that he had eaten in his life was about to pour out of him like a flood.

Trying to stop himself from vomiting, he placed his hand over his mouth and force it all back in...

"Hey, you." Said Shinigami as he turned his head to face towards Keisuke, since he was the closest person to him at the time. That will be the last time Keisuke ever choose to stand near a door.

"M-m-me?"

Keisuke pointed at himself in an attempt to verify if Shinigami's was really calling out to him.

"That's right. What is your name?"

Keisuke was shaken because Shinigami still seemed angry, but he was not. It was his guttural way of speaking that gave the impression that he was angry and annoyed.\

"Keisuke. My name is Keisuke Miura Kami-sensei."

"Then Keisuke, would you please take him to the nurse's office."

"Sorry sir, but I do not know where the nurse office is..."

At this point, Keisuke was sweating bullets because he was afraid Shinigami would start beating him up with a ruler like he did to Akira.

"Is that so... Where were your upperclassman that was supposed to show you around the school after the assembly?"

"I lost him during the chaos sir, so I had to find the homeroom class on my own and did not have the time to search the school for where everything were."

"I see... It's not unheard of for freshmen to lose their upperclassmen during the new school year. Hm..."

After a few seconds of silence, he turns to the classroom to ask the students a question.

"If that's the case, does anyone here know where the nurse room is?"

It was questionable to say the least that Shinigami did not know where the nurse office was, or at least if he, did why didn't he go there himself? Or told Keisuke where it was. Instead, he opted to asked the students in the classroom, but they were dead silent as they had been all day. It was so quiet that a person could hear a tear fall a mile away.

Just then, the boyishly built female who was unaffected by Shinigami's gloomy aura spoke up in a very polite and soft-spoken tone of voice, raising her hands up as she did.

"I know where the nurse office is Kami-sensei."

"Good. Then you and Keisuke would take him to the nurse office. Everyone else, grab your "new science" textbook and turn to page 8."

Getting up from her chair, she elegantly walks to pick up Akira's near-dead body, but the weight was too much for her to lift, so she called for Keisuke to help her with some assistance.

Though he was a little hesitance at first, he rushed in to help the boyishly built woman carry Akira near-dead body. Grabbing one arm each, they both wrapped it around their shoulders, before heading down to the nurse office.

.

Two people could be seen walking down a long corridor with a man wrapped around their shoulders being dragged in between them. That man has been knocked out and has blood flowing from his head to his toes. Those two people are making their way to the nurses office, but one man (Keisuke) mind was filled with many things.

'Who was that person? He said he's our teacher, but what kind of teachers hit their students to the point they almost died!? And shouldn't we bring Akira to the hospital instead of the school nurse. Wouldn't that be safer and better for him. Or should we call the police first. I don't know anymore. What am I supposed to do in this situation?!'

As he seemed to be lost in thought and his expression continuously changed from gloomy to worried, the boyish girl felt compelled to help him. She did not choose to help him out of charity but out of sheer curiosity, as if he were her text subject.

"Your name is Keisuke correct?"

When she spoke, it threw him out of focus making him yelp in fear and shock, dropping Akira in the process. Fortunately he didn't wake up.

With his face red as a cherry, he returned her greeting.

"Y-yes, my name's Keisuke , and what is your name? You don't have to answer me if you don't want."

"My name is Bo Shuǐ. But you can just call me Akua since my name and it means the same thing, and I just don't care what people call me since I don't like my name."

'What does she mean by that?'

"Why do you hate your name? If you don't mind me asking." Said Keisuke, but all Akua did in response was stare at him, but this time you couldn't feel her calm and polite presence that surrounded her, all you could feel from her was nothing.... It's as if her body is nothing more than an empty shell.

She finally responded with a simple 'no' that didn't have any emotion in it, it reminded Keisuke a bit of Shinigami.

She then changed the subject, clearly wanting nothing to do with the subject even though she was the one that brought it up in the first place.

"I wouldn't expect anything less than what that teacher did to Akira, especially from an M.A.U-supported school." She said, going back to her calm and polite demeaner.

"What do you mean by that?" Keisuke responded in confusion.

"I mean that what Shinigami did is nothing out of the ordinary for teachers to do in a M.A.U sponsor school."

He froze in place as he heard her utter those words, furthermore, Akua looked at him as if he were a weirdo, despite the fact that she had just said it was okay for a teacher to hit a student near death if they're supported by a company.

"Are you saying that it's completely fine for a teacher to hit a student to the point that they could die?!"

It was the first time Keisuke had felt such a way. When he was at home, he always smiled through the pain and never got angry. When he was at school and saw other students being bullied, he would just tend to himself and blend in with the crowd, pretending nothing was wrong. He hated himself because of that, but for the time in his life, he was able to express himself and be mad for someone else.

"Let me tell you something about M.A.U. Everyone knows that its a martial arts company making billions each month, and that the ceo Ryusei Ryuzaki has more power than almost any government. Due to that reason, all schools sponsor by M.A.U. allows teachers to do whatever they wish to the students, with the parents and student permission of course. That's why it's not unheard of for a teacher to beat a student near death, as such the school nurse in all of the sponsored M.A.U. are train professional that have at least 10 years minimum as a doctor."

"What do you mean by "parents and student permission"? I never sign such things..."

Just then, he thought back about a few months ago when he first came to this school with his parents. They were all in the principal's office signing documents when the principal pulled out a gold colored document, it was something that Egyptians kings and queens would use. The principal then whispered something into Keisuke parents ears. Following that, his parents forced him into signing the documents, telling him that "It is for your good", and "this is normal procedures". Shortly after signing the document, the look on his parents' and the principal's faces was that of a mad scientist.

"Oh, I see... I did sign it..."

It felt as though his words were crumbling away.

"We still have an unconscious person to carry to the nurse off."

Her words had yet again snapped him out of thought, and when he came to, he saw Akua pointing at the unconscious Akira.

"I-i'm srory, I was deep in thought, again..."

As they began to pick up Akira, his eyes began to open, but not to the point where those around him could tell his eyes were open, but just enough for him to see. As he looked up at Keisuke's face, it appeared to him that Keisuke was grinning from ear to ear. The only conclusion he could come to at the time was that he must have enjoyed seeing him get beat up. Before he can delve more into it, he fell right back asleep.
