Chapter 1 - Prologue

I dream to become a king, like those I read in History books. The records of their exploits captivated my heart.

Some people believe that Alexander the Great is the greatest king, and I don't blame them as he reasserted Macedonian power within Greece, and led his army to victories across the Persian territories of Anatolia, Syria and Egypt without suffering a single defeat, growing his empire to the largest empire in the ancient world.

But I believe to be the greatest king is Genghis Khan. Originally named as Temujin from Borjigin, his father was murdered when he was at a pretty young age, disappearing from his tribe like a ghost. He eventually came back to to reclaim it, doing so he went on a rampage reclaiming his tribe and ruling over multiple lands till Afghanistan and Northern China, conquering more land than anyone in history.

But my favorite king of them all is emperor akbar, who won the support of the Hindu kings he had defeated by marrying their daughters, a bad ass if I do say so myself. Not only that, he had a total of 36 wives (yet someone like me couldn't get a single girlfriend). But the thing I like about him the most is the fact that he created a powerful military system and instituted effective political and social reforms that made him the greatest Mughal emperors of India to this day.

As I layed down in a mountain of history and geoscientist related books while reading a book called "Kings and Queens of the world: Their glory and conquest", I couldn't help but think how great these people were, and what I wouldn't do to become them, or to at least become a great king like them, but... Such a thing wouldn't happen in my mundane life.

At that time, I wouldn't knew that someone like me would become a king that would change the world upside down.

It was the 21st century and the atmosphere is joyous in the Seishiro houshold, the family of four was enjoying the Christmas feast as we talk about our life; hobbies, love life, interest and dislike. It was truly the most fun we had in years, as we get to sit down and enjoy our self, especially me, Zantetsu Seishiro, the eldest of the house hold.

After a few hours of that joyous time, we decided it was time to pack up everything. I offer to do the dishes but my little sister Anri immediately step in offering to do them herself. I of course thank her for that, but something in me was hurt by that, just because I can't use my leg anymore doesn't mean I'm a baby.

I wheeled away from the dinner table to the stairs, where my father had set up a inclined platform stair lift. Originally he wasn't a part of my life and wanted nothing to do with me ever since I wanted to become a Historian, but after the 'incident' he suddenly started changing and is finally willing to call me a son (not his), and not for the reason you think.

You would expect for him to call me his son after I lost the use of my leg, but no, he started calling me a son after I promised to become a geoscientist. Though I didn't want to become one, but with the loss of my leg I had no other choice but to become one, as multiple other careers options was now limited to me.

Originally I wanted to be a robotic scientist so I can make my own leg and continue my dream of becoming a Historian, but I gave up on the option after my father threw all the books and gear related to it, and filled my room with geoscientists related books.

I wheeled myself on to the inclined platform stair lift before pushing the lever signaling it to move me upstairs, once I had finally gone up stairs, I wheeled myself to my room leaving the door open as my family hate it when I leave it close, thinking I might hurt myself again.

Sometimes I can't stand this family. They're a good family don't get me wrong, but their overbearing protection for me can be so suffocating at times, to the point where I think of killing myself just to escape, but I never manage to do it because I'm afraid of what lies after death. Is it just a void of nothingness as if my existence is worthless, or were the Christians right about heaven and hell? Well, in the end it doesn't matter.

After getting in my thought and just letting all my anger go, I struggle to get onto my bed before going to sleep.

*Ding-ding-ding-ding*

As I heard the familiar sound of my alarm clock, I tiredly tried to turn it off, but no matter where my hand was placed, I couldn't feel it. It kept sounding like it was getting louder and louder without end.

Then I turned my head to look for it, only to see my sister standing there with a stupid bright smile on her face, waving my alarm clock in the air.

"Guess what time it is~" I noticed she was grinning from ear to ear with her usual energetic smile. Before asking her the time as if the clock isn't in front of me, I rubbed my eyes to help with my sleepiness so I can stay somewhat awake.

I had completely forgotten that today is Monday, which meant it is a school day. Since I am 18 years old in my third year of high school, it was even more important for me to go to school, but I didn't feel like it and would rather be sleeping right now, but I knew my sister wouldn't let me.

"I see, then get out of my room, I need to change." I told her, but she immediately gave me a disgusted look. It still surprises me to this day how many different expressions my sister can make in a matter of seconds.

"You're not going to take a shower? Ewww, can't believe I have a onii-chan who doesn't take a shower."

The face of disgust she made at me when she said that made me want to hit her with all my force, so guess what I did? I hit her.

All of a sudden I saw her crying her eyes out like she was a child and running to tell our mother that I had hit her, but what kind of brother doesn't hit their sister?

I was able to get myself out of bed and into my wheelchair in order to take a shower, a nice cold shower just the way I like it.

After I finished taking a sower and putting on my school uniform, I looked into my full-body mirror to fix my somehow messy and not wet hair as if I had not just came out from taking the shower.

Once I apply the finishing touches, I wheeled myself downstairs to where my sister was waiting for me without a single tear on her face. Whenever we would leave for school, she would always offer to wheel me to school. If I ever said no, she would keep pestering me until I said yes.

"You know you don't have to do this."

"I like the feel of being in control of my onii-chan!"

She looked me dead in the eyes and said those words freaking me out to my core, and made me almost afraid to trust her when my life is literally in her hands. The thing that scared me the most when she said that though was how she did not smiled or giggled once when she said those words.

Whenever she would tell a lie she laughed, and when she told the truth, she kept a straight face, the polar opposite of me. When I try to tell a lie, I always keep a straight face, but when I tell the truth, I start laughing uncontrollably.

.

It's been a few minutes since we left our house for school, and while we're on our way there I'll tell you one thing about my sister: she's in her first year of high school, so she and I attend the same school, Sora Academy. That's all.

We stopped along the way to see a childhood friend who is the same age and grade as me. She is as straightforward as one can get and will never tell a lie no matter what, even if her life depends on it, but she makes up for it with her cute looks, which I am sometimes swayed by, but there is something to her besides the cute face and straight forward personalty, the most eye catching of them all... It's those empty eyes of her.

She's a petite girl with a pale complexion and large, compound-like eyes that lack pupils making it seems that she is empty, as if she has no soul.

She has black wavy hair that fades to white, styled at the back of her head into a flat yakai-maki bun, fastened with chains.

"Hey Seiko, what are you planning to do on Christmas brake?"

"I'm going to beat your dad up, then I'm going to adopt Zantetsu!"

She rushed in and hung me, which shocked me to say the least, but it also made me happy in an odd way. Though this may make me appear to be a hypocrite, I don't mind if someone dote on me a little; it all depends on my mood at the time." Thank you Seiko, and I will always be there for you too, we're best friend after all."

Her eyes lit up like Christmas tree (though it was hard to tell), before she hugged me one last time, heading in the opposite direction as me and my sister.

As my sister and I arrive at school, we wave goodbye before heading to our respective homeroom classes, mine being 3-A and my sister's being 1-C.

As I opened the door to enter the classroom, almost everyone in the room fixed their gaze on me, but it was a natural occurrence, so I just went about my day.

I wheeled myself to my desk, which is the only desk in the entire school with an empty chair and is much lower than the rest of the school's desks.

"Zantetsu!"

When I turned my head to confirm my suspicion, a short man with dirty blonde straight hair and hazel eyes came flying tores me with a huge grin on his face, this person is none other than Agamu Zaima, a close friend of mine since I started playing soccer.

You may be perplexed, noticeable so. I played soccer during my junior high year after being dragged into it by my sister who felt like playing soccer because of a certain 'blue' anime. Not even a few days later after the incident, I had to stop playing soccer and my sister as well, even though she didn't have to.

He wraps his arms around me and starts swinging around me like a spin topper. Just like that, the day past.

{Time Skip - 6 1/2 hours later]

After saying goodbye to all of our friends, my little sister and I headed back home, stopping at a jewelry store along the way. This is because I wanted to get a present for my sister's birthday.

Her birthday is the day after Christmas, but because she prefers it to be in Christmas and because they are so close, she forced our family to celebrating her birthday on Christmas and to give her extra gifts on those days, so my family complied, and plus they thought it will be easy on their wallets.

I told my sister to wait outside for me, making an excuse that I was getting a present for Seiko; I was relieved that she didn't probe too deeply and simply agreed.

As I walked outside with the jewelry for my sister's birthday, I couldn't see her anywhere until I saw a truck hurdling at brake next speed, wondering what it was going to hit, and I saw my sister in its line of sight heading straight towards her.

My body reacted without thinking, I wheeled my way to my sister as fast as I could with the Truck coming in faster, as I was few inches away to reaching her with the truck inches closer, I ran my wheel to a small rock on the road hurdling myself at my sister, pushing her out the way and getting hit in the process.

As I was bleeding on the streets, I saw my sister crying in my arms, assuring me that everything would be fine.

But I know that nothing will be fine.

'So this is how it feels to die; I expected something different. Well, I'm glad I'm dying because if there is an afterlife, I'll be able to walk again.'

That's when I heard a voice that didn't sound young or old, girl or man, it was a voice without distinct patterns repeating in my head over and over again, "Conquer the World!"
