Alex watched as Alvis exited the room and experienced a wave of relief. He was aware that the unusual squad pursuing the explorers was not to be trifled with, and Alvis was obviously of the same opinion. He wasn't careless or naive, as seen by his willingness to give up on his desire for the female elves.
The sense of worry that lingered in the back of Alex's mind persisted even as he exhaled a sigh of relief. He couldn't help but wonder why they were pursuing the adventurers; the idea of an unknowable and formidable opponent lurking in the shadows was disconcerting.
Alex could not help but feel appreciative of Alvis' choice to back down as he sat there thinking. Especially for something as insignificant as a personal wish, it was not worth the risk to provoke an unknown and perhaps deadly opponent.
The heir to the Goldert family had, in the end, taken the correct decision, and Alex could not help but admire him for it.
Alvis felt defeated and disillusioned as he left the auction, but he knew he needed to recuperate. He hastened back to Goldert Castle in order to make up for the lost sleep.
Alex, ecstatic to have the magical object in his possession, went back to his home outside the castle. No one troubled him this time.
The bone whistle had the appearance of being made of metal and was as white as jade. It was hefty and clearly out of the usual. However, just half of it was still present since it had been fractured.
This was the first time Alex had ever seen a mystical item like this, and he excitedly took it in his hand to examine it. But when he touched it, he was startled to notice that the half-bone whistle had a flimsy blue aura surrounding it. His hand felt very cold, as if he were clutching an ice cube, as the aura appeared to ooze into his palm.
Alex cried out in amazement since he had not anticipated this. He remained still while the blue halo and the half-bone whistle disappeared.
"What occurred just now? Alex Goldert has had the bone whistle, a magical implement, for a long time. Alex looked at the powder on his palm and thought, "The body ought to have absorbed it. No matter how hard he tried, he was unable to grab it since it appeared to have a slight repulsion.
Alex believed he simultaneously heard two faint "Di Di" noises, followed by a sound resembling gears rotating. Was everything here really a delusion, or was there anything more to this enigmatic bone whistle?
The two beeps were originally ignored by Alex, but the sound of the gears that followed was impossible to ignore. He had a feeling in his heart that it had something to do with the bone whistle he had just smashed.
However, he started to unwind after some time passed and he heard no more motions. His ears were suddenly filled with a loud blast that sounded like a firecracker bursting, then a succession of repetitive electronic noises. The sensation that followed was one of being pulled into an abyss. When Alex's vision cleared up, he was high in the air, staring down on a city that had mostly collapsed and just a handful of its structures remained.
Panicked, Alex let out a scream and instinctively tried to move his limbs but was shocked to realize he had no physical body. After a few minutes, he realized he had not actually entered the real world, but an unknown space that he had entered consciously.
After a few minutes of confusion, Alex came to the realization that he had entered an uncharted virtual universe rather than the actual world. A data bar and an abstract figure emerged in the upper left corner of his vision as he adjusted his focus to his surroundings. The information on the screen identified him as Norman, an inexperienced junior apprentice necromancer.
Name: Norman (Alex Goldert)
Occupation: Necromancer
Level: Junior Apprentice
Ability: None
The parallels to "Heroes Invincible," a strategy game Alex used to play on his phone, were instantly apparent to Alex. He could not believe that after crossing over, the gaming UI had materialised in his head. As a result of his physique being that of a lich and the gaming system defaulting to that class, he also recognised that his profession had to be changed to Necromancer.
"Is this some kind of glitch in the game? Did you travel with me too?" Alex asked the abstract figure, trying to make sense of the situation.
Alex cried out, "Goldfinger! Without a doubt, this is my golden finger! "and he was excited to the brim. His thoughts were racing as he abruptly felt himself descending from a great height. His viewpoint abruptly changed, and he suddenly found himself in a destroyed city. The next instant, he was inside a palace that was dark grey.
This palace served as a representation of the necromancer's realm, or graveyard, in the game. It was one of the few structures that was still standing throughout the whole cemetery. It was instantly fixed as soon as Alex entered the hallway.
He searched for a while but found nothing. After some thought, he headed towards the only remaining building in the cemetery. This cemetery covered an area of more than ten acres, filled with broken tombstones and flickering forest fires, with crows screaming in the distance. In the game, this was where the lowest-level undead creatures, skeleton soldiers, were produced.
Alex had come here to see whether it was possible to project these undead creatures into reality. He was unhappy to learn that this "cemetery" was no longer a game, though. The five skeleton soldiers at the graveyard couldn't even be enlisted because there were no resources like gold coins, wood, or stones.
Alex abandoned up on his investigation out of frustration and briefly left the cemetery interface. He felt a tingle around his temples as his body shook and he regained awareness. About 10 minutes had gone since he was unconscious, according to the pocket watch he took out.
