Chapter 17: An island in the sky

"Gomu Gomu no Pistol!" Vivi said as she extended her now-transformed arm into a water jet and hit Sanji in the face.

Luffy and Chopper started laughing as Sanji fell on his but.

Zoro didn't seem that amused as He witnessed the preceding.

"Are you training or fooling around?."

"I am doing both! I'm trying to figure out ways to use my power to attack. Turning my arm into water and shooting it out seemed like a good idea. Imitating Luffy was just an extra." Answered Vivi.

"The idea is not bad, but there was barely any strength behind that attack, at most, you can make someone fall back but it will do no damage." Zoro pointed out.

Sanji stood up. He was just wearing a swimsuit since He had offered himself as a target dummy for Vivi to practice.

"I'm afraid, Moss Head over there is right. That attack would not do much damage as it is right now."

She knew they were right, unlike something like fire or lighting, water doesn't do any harm by itself unless there is tremendous pressure behind it.

"Let me try something else." She pulled her right arm back, focused, and then launched a quick punch. His arm turned into water and shoot forward but she kept her fist from changing so she would have something solid to hit with. This is something that Crocodile did all of the time with his hook.

Her fist impacted Sanji in the stomach and send him back a few feet.

That attack seemed to do more damage, unfortunately, it came with a big downside.

"Argg!." Vivi grunted as she grabbed her hand.

Her friends saw this and approached her with worry.

"You okay, Vivi?." Asked Usopp.

She checked her hand and moved her fingers.

"I'm fine, doesn't seem like I broke anything, but still hurts."

"It was a good idea but you will need a very strong body to punch someone that hard without hurting yourself in the process."

Zoro pointed out, but she already had realized the problem. Unlike some like him or Luffy who spent years of harsh training, she grew up as a Princess. She has soft skin and brittle bones.

'Well, at least I heal fast.' She thought as the pain in her hand disappeared after a few seconds.

"Maybe I should try using a weapon, like a knife."

Zoro nodded.

"That could work."

She looked at Sanji who was now approaching.

"Are you ok, Sanji? I dint hurt you much, right?"

He gave her a thumbs up.

"I fire, of course! I'll take as many punches as you want, my beautiful Princess!."

Nami and Robin were observing the whole ordeal while laying comfortably under an umbrella.

"Weirdo…." Nami said softly.

Robin chuckled.

"I think He has its charm."

Nami gave her a stare.

"You can't be serious…"

She then heard something clanking as it hit the deck.

"it's raining?."

Robin saw pieces of something hitting the surface of the ship.

"That's not rain. There is something…"

"GUYS!! THERE IS SOMETHING FALLING DOWN!" Screamed Usopp while looking up with horror.

"It's falling from the sky!!" Said Luffy with widened eyes.

"A galleon?!" Said Nami.

A ship that was easily ten times the size of the Going Merry was falling from the sky and the crew could not believe what they were seeing.

"AHHHHH" Yelled Chopper.

The galleon ended up hitting the surface of the sea right next to their ship, creating a huge wave.

"Everyone, grab hold of the ship!" Yelled Sanji.

"What's going on!." Said Nami while holding on to the mast.

"It must be a dream, no…a nightmare!." Said Usopp.

"A nightmare?, oh…that's a relief…" Chopped sighed.

"There is still more falling, be on guard!." Said Sanji.

Many bigger objects started to fall on top of the Going Merry.

A barrel landed next to Chopper, startling him.

A human skeleton landed on top of Usopp.

"Ahhh!!!, I'm being attacked!!!" He screamed.

"Luffy, we need to protect the ship." Zoro started to cut any big pieces that were about to collide with their ship while Luffy and Sanji would push them away.

The whole situation only lasted a few seconds but for the crew, it felt like minutes.

Eventually, everything went back to being calm and they all breathed in relief.

"That was close…why did a ship fall from the sky?" Asked their captain.

"Too weird…"

"There is nothing up there…"

Sanji and Zoro looked up at the empty sky.

"What!" They heard Nami raise her voice and turned to her.

"What's wrong, Nami?" Asked Vivi.

Nami was intensely looking at her log pose. "The log pose! It's pointing up!. It must be broken."

Robin approached and looked at the log pose too.

"That's not right. If it's locked like that, it means its pointing to the next magnetic field."

"Are you suggesting that there is an island in the sky?." Said Zoro.

"Whoa!. Can an island really float?." Luffy was already getting excited at the idea of vising a floating island.

"I don't know, but I can't think of any other reason for the log pose behavior." Answered Robin.

"The legend of the sky island."

They turned towards Vivi as she said those words.

"As a child, I read a story about an island floating in the sky. People with wings lived in it. It's an old legend."

She wasn't really lying. She had a memory of a book like that as a child.

"How can an island float in the sky?." Asked Usopp.

"I also read a legend about a floating sea." Added Robin.

"A floating sea?" Said Nami.

"That's even more confusing…." Said Sanji.

"If there is an island up there I want to see it! Alright, Nami, let's go! Upward we go!." The Captain ordered.

"Full speed ahead!." Said Usopp.

"Idiots!, the ship can't go up." Sanji bumped Luffy and Usopp in the head.

"This is impossible. There cannot be an island up there. The log pose must be broken." Said Nami while examining it.

"No, Miss Navigator. What you should worry about right now is not the log pose, is how to get us up there. No matter how strange the situation is, the one thing that you can always count on is your log pose. No matter where it points to…there will be an island there."

"The grand line is filled with things that should be impossible. An island floating in the sky doesn't seem that far-fetched to me." Added Vivi.

Nami sighed in resignation.

"Fine, let's say there is actually an island up in the sky…how do we get there?."

"I'm sure well find a way." Said Vivi with a smile.
