The broom dropped them off at the entrance. Lucas took The float to the second floor. The float is like an elevator but instead it lacks gravity and stepping inside would just take anyone up.
On the second floor, Jinx woke up. "Water!" She said. Her throat was dry. He gave her some water from a restroom. She drank the water and rests on the wall.
"Fresh!" She said and looks at him. "Why are you covered in blood. Is this a hospital? Why are we here?"
"You fainted. You got me in trouble. Now I have detention, given by the headmaster. Do you realize what that means? We're doomed!" Lucas told her
"Chill!" She stood up and cleaned herself. "We're not doomed. It's just detention how bad could it be?"
"How bad could it be?! How bad?! You're a newbie, I don't blame you. Let me tell you one thing you don't know, detention with professor Zack is the last thing you want. Now, let's go fix you up so we can go"
"I'm fine"
"What do you mean you're fine? Your head is bleeding"
"Not anymore. Water heals me. It always has" she told him
Lucas didn't believe it. He took her to the restroom to clean her head. After drying it up, he found that there was no wound on her head anymore. Lucas took a step back.
"Are you a healer or this is just a normal thing for you?" Lucas asked as he checked her head again to confirm.
"I told you water heals me. I survived a bus accident because of this. Don't be surprised. This is a school for people who can do what I can do right?"
"Well, I've never seen this kind of thing before. I'm taking you to the Headmaster"
"The old man?"
"Don't call him that" Lucas dragged her out of the restroom. Someone happened to see them and quickly took a picture.
Lucas called Enchiladas again. The broom dropped them in front of the Headmaster's office building. Lucas quickly took her to the Headmaster to explain the situation.
The Headmaster was sitting on his rocking chair having some tea.
"Lucas, I thought I told you to go to detention afterwards. You also brought the girl! This better be important"
"She healed!" Lucas said
"Of course she healed. We have the best healers"
"On her own. I gave her water and the wound on her head vanished"
The Headmaster out down his tea. "Did you check to comfirm?"
"I did! Over and over again. It's all gone. Is there a self healing ability we don't know about? Even the healers need healers to heal them" Lucas asked
The Headmaster went back to his seat. "Go to detention now. And maybe later, you can find her a room"
"But Headmaster-"
"No buts! Do your job as a fetcher. Detention now"
Lucas took her out of the Headmaster's office. Enchiladas was already waiting at the front of the building. It took them to the school building. Lucas left her in front of the Detention class.
"Where are you going? You heard the Dean, we're supposed to be here together" Jinx questioned
"To find you a room and get you a broom. Now get in there" Lucas left.
She stood in front of the room for a while before turning the knob and heading inside. There weren't many people there. Only a few seniors and some newbies. As she walked inside, she could feel eyes crawling on her skin. She found an empty seat with the newbies and sat with them.
"You're that girl that fainted in the hall" the girl on her right said
"That was pretty embarrassing. You got the first day bad luck too?" The girl on her left said
"I have that stupid senior to thank. Who wants to come here in the first place. It was my first day in human school too, you know!" Jinx explained. "My mom must be home now. She must be happy that I'm gone. She must be dancing in the house in her underwear right now"
"Sounds like you have a bad relationship" the girl on her left said
"We don't talk much. She always keeps her distance from me"
"Isn't she super-human too? Doesn't she possess special abilities?" The girl on her right asked
"I don't think she does. If she did, she'd understand me better. Let's have a proper introduction. I'm Jinx. I don't know what powers I possess yet, but I'm sure it'll pop up as time goes by"
"My name's Jennifer, you can call me Jenny. I also don't know what powers I possess yet. But my mom says, powers will show before or on our eighteenth birthdays. So, I'm chill about it" the girl on her right said
"I'm McBabe. You can call me Babe. I possess mind controlling abilities. I'm not an expert yet, so it's very risky" the girl on her left said
"That's so cool" Jinx and Jenny said in unison.
"I thought people aren't allowed to use that anymore?" Jenny asked
"I know. That's why we've been kept under watch. Absolutely ridiculous" McBabe answers in irritation to the ideology
"So, why are you in detention?" Jinx asked to clear up the atmosphere
Jenny was the first to answer. "I flirted with a teacher, then Professor Zack saw us and brought me here" she laughed slightly
"What about the teacher?" McBabe asked
"I told the professor it was all on me. I said I'm the one who flirted that he didn't flirt back" Jenny explained
"But, it's not wrong to date teachers" McBabe said
"It's not?" Jinx asked in upmost shock
"I know. But there are certain places where lovey-dovey is limited to. Like...the staff lounge" Jenny said as she faced the other side, realizing how much she messed up
"The staff lounge. How could you go flirt in the staff lounge? You're so brave. I like it" McBabe's reprimanding turned into praise and they all laughed together.
"Do you have a room?" Jinx asked her
"I did. Some girls came and took it" Jenny answered
"I'm roomless" McBabe said
They were now staring at McBabe, awaiting the reason why she's in detention.
"Punched a prefect in the throat" McBabe said
"Why?!" Jinx asked
"She crossed the line. Just because you're my fetcher doesn't mean you can talk to me disrespectfully. I respect people so I expect respect to be reciprocal" McBabe explained
"Yeah! I get it. My fetcher was also pretty messed up. She grabbed my hair when I didn't want to follow her. I mean, who would want to follow a strange person into a strange portal? Does that make sense any sense! It does not" Jenny said
"My fetcher is an absolute pain in the fucking ass. Such an annoying jerk! He threw me into the portal. I hit my head on a rock and now I'm here. And we're supposed to be here together" Jinx complained. "I was having a nice time on a beach with a guy when he came with a girl. They made him dissipate into dust. Poor boy"
"At least, you got a male fetcher. I don't think anyone has a male fetcher aside you" Jenny said
"Now, because of him, I'm stuck in this filthy hole. Professor man in black. Why does he even dressed like that? Does he think it's cool?" Jinx said and crossed her arms
"Jinx, you should probably stop naming people. If he heard you, he'll put you in the dark room" McBabe warned. "And trust me, it's not a good place"
"I heard from a few students that those that were put in the dark room said that the dark room is filled with all sorts of dangerous creatures that would try to eat you. Terrifying!" Jenny whispers to them
"I don't give two fucks. I don't give a fuck about man in black and I don't give a fuck about the dark room" Jinx told them
Jenny and McBabe were silent. Their faces turned pale as if they had just seen a ghost.
She paused and looked at their faces for a while. She felt as though someone was standing behind her. That's when she knew she crossed the line. "He's right behind me, isn't he?" Jinx asked them
They both nodded.
"Everyone out! Except you!" He put his hand on her shoulder.
Jinx shivered as his hand grasped her shoulder. Everyone left the room, leaving them alone. Jenny gave her a thumbs up before going out.
"Professor, it is not what you think" Jinx tried to explain
"How do you know what I think? Nevermind! Your opinion doesn't matter" He went to the front of her desk and lean in very close. "I'll take it that you're a foul-mouthed, irresponsible, blabbermouth who go around insulting people of superiority"
"You absolutely can't be the professor Zack everyone fears right. You look...young" she pressed his cheek with her finger.
He grasped her hand ready to break her fingers off. Just then, a girl came in and saw the position they were in.
"Oh! Please carry on. Just came to take my bag" she girl quickly took her bag and left.
"How dare you touch my face! You're more disrespectful than I thought" he let go of her hand.
"I'm sorry" she faked a smile
"To the dark room" he ordered.
She slowly followed him waiting for an opportunity to help her slide away from her situation. Just as he was about to open a pitch black door, Lucas came in
"Professor wait!" Lucas went over to him
"Oh! Lucas. I vividly remember the Headmaster saying, you're supposed to be here as well. Double detention for you" Professor Zack looked at him deeply
"But the professor also said to find her a room. That's what I've been doing" Lucas replied and looked back at him
"Well, you're free. I want her alone in the dark room"
"Well, if you could spare me sometime, I'll deliver her to her room and I'll bring her back immediately. It's a win-win for the both of us this way. I get to finish my fetcher work quickly and you get to put her in the dark room" Lucas negotiated
"No!" He looked to his side and found that she was no longer there. "Where is she?"
"She was here a second ago"
"I see! You distracted me so that she can get away, isn't that so?" Professor Zack was now fuming in anger
"No! I don't know when she left. Did she go in?" Lucas asked
"Who would want to go in? I'm going to find her and bring her here and you better not stop me" He threatened
"Not if I find her first" Lucas left the room first. Professor Zack took his black jacket and went out after him. They went in opposite directions of the hallway.
There were many students reporters gathered outside the door. When they saw Lucas, they quickly followed him.
Meanwhile, Jinx was running as heck in the hallway. Some reporters were also after her. She was looking back, eack second to see if they're about to catch up to her. Suddenly, she hit her face against an open locker. The impact made her fall flat on the ground, unconscious.
She opened her eyes in the hospital later. She found a senior, wearing uniform, sitting next to her bed. She saw that he was resting and his hand was bandaged.
She poked him. "Excuse me, senior!"
He slowly woke up. "Oh, you're awake"
"Did you bring me here?" Jinx asked him
"Yes. You hit your head against locker when you were running from the school press. The locker hit my hand too. Now we're here" he carefully explained with a soft voice
"I'm so sorry for your hand"
"It's okay. The nurse said you should use this once you wake up" he gave her a glass of water and two pills.
She knew the pills was unnecessary but she took it anyway. It might be to her advantage. She then gulped down all the water from the glass and put it down.
"Refreshing! Oh! Did the press follow me?" Jinx asked as she got up from the bed
"No! They can't write or take pictures about anything that happens in here. Unless a teacher is here or a teacher comes here. But they usually don't do that anymore" The senior explained as they walked out together. "I'm George, by the way"he introduced himself
"I'm jinx"
"I know who you are" Senior George chuckled
"How?" Jinx was confused
"You're trending" he brought out a piece of thin fabric that quickly solidify. "This is a magical artifact created by our witches. It's called the Fabteller. The latest news comes up here and look. You're on all the headlines" senior George gave her the Fabteller
She checked the Fabteller and found her face all over it.

"The news writers. They're scattered all around the school. We don't even know who's who anymore" she checked his bandaged hand
"Senior George?"
"I'm fine with George" he smiles
"Nah, I'll stick with senior George. I don't want to get in trouble again. I'm really sorry for your hand. I'm willing to pay you back" Jinx sincerely offered.
"It's okay, really. I'm a top student, professor Zack' s favorite too. I have to live up to my title" he said with such charisma.
Up ahead, she saw Jenny holding McBabe, or was it the other way around.
"What's wrong? Who's hurt among you two?" Jinx asked in worry. She didn't know who to hold up
"It's McBabe. We need to get her to the nurse" Jenny panicked. "Help me!"
Jinx quickly went to hold McBabe from the other side. Apparently, she was unconscious at the moment. Poor Jenny had to drag her all the way.
Senior George waved goodbye to them as the news writers came over
