After Zhou Qing left, Su Ying went to the Imperial Garden. Beside the den where the two wolf cubs were kept was a wooden cage that was as tall as two people. Inside the cage were two messenger eagles which were as tall as half a human.
Su Ying opened the cage and grabbed a messenger eagle from inside. She hid the message tube under its massive wings and secured it well. Thereafter, she released the messenger eagle.
That very night, the messenger eagle flew back.
After Su Ying had her dinner, while Xiao Jin and the others were taking their baths, she went to the Imperial Garden to retrieve the message from the eagle's wing. Using the dim yellow light from the sheepskin lantern, she was able to see the words on the letter.
After reading the contents, Su Ying put away the letter safely and returned to the Conjugal Phoenix Palace.
