Chapter 16 - Face death face-to-face

"Good heavens!" Ming exclaimed, leaping in place out of fright. Fortunately, with a high degree of agility, Ming avoid the attack, or else his dick would have been dire.

Ming had not intentionally aimed at the opponent's head with his charged arrow, as immobilizing her would suffice if hit anywhere. As usual, he aimed for her chest, a larger target and easier to hit.

Little did he expect the attacker to target his most vulnerable spot. His charged arrow missed, crossing the air and blasting a hole through the closed wooden door. How exasperating!

Springing up, Ming clung to a horizontal beam of the elevator ceiling, looking down at the female zombie. Her head tilted back, mouth open with teeth clashing together, producing a cacophony of clicks. She stared upwards, making Ming shiver.

Damn!

The zombie leaped, mouth open wide. Ming swung forward, narrowly avoiding the deadly bite. Landing and rolling, he settled against the wall, a kitchen knife beside him. Considering using it in close combat, he quickly abandoned the idea.

With no hand-to-hand combat experience, wielding a kitchen knife against an elite monster would be foolish.

Ming dismissed the thought and planned to learn close-quarters combat skills for situations like this later.

The cramped space made it difficult to utilize his archery abilities, putting him at a disadvantage. As the female zombie charged again, Ming, seated on the ground, fired his crossbow.

The bolt flew, meeting the gnashing teeth of the zombie. Thud! It struck her chest but did not trigger the knockback effect. She crawled rapidly towards him, or more precisely, his dick.

Good heavens! Ming scrambled up, pushing off the wall with one leg, leaping over the zombie's head, trying to escape. Rolling upon landing, he quickly turned to fire again.

Perhaps too tense, he hit the zombie's back instead of the head. She rose and charged, and Ming pulled the trigger once more.

The bolt flew towards her head. She dodged effortlessly with a tilt of her head.

As Ming retreated, reloading his crossbow, he realized normal shots were ineffective. He could only wait for the charged arrow to cool down, with one minute remaining.

The zombie lunged again. This time, Ming didn't aim for the head. After several rounds, he understood that elite zombies had some intelligence, actively avoiding headshots as if knowing it was their weak point. They rarely dodged when their body was targeted.

The bolt struck the female zombie's chest, but within seconds, she was upon him. Her claws tore into his abdomen, slicing downward.

Ming gasped, stepping back and glancing down. Fortunately, her claws had only left marks on his clothes, failing to penetrate the fabric.

[D*Sturdy*Battle Armor Durability -1]

Damn it! Ming retreated against the wall. The elite monster had scratched him, and his battle armor's durability dropped by 1. If he recalled correctly, the armor's total durability was only 3.

What a loss.

But he finally understood how durability was consumed.

The female zombie stood, her pale green eyes fixated on Ming, who was now cornered. She lifted the claw that had grazed him and licked it, sending shivers down Ming's spine with her predatory gaze.

Bloody hell! There was no doubt she possessed intelligence.

The female zombie's roar sounded like a sinister laugh. She charged again, arms outstretched.

The elevator corridor was only 1.2 meters wide, and her arms spanned the entire space, attempting a massive bear hug. Ming had no choice but to leap over her head again.

The female zombie seemed to have anticipated his move. She raised her claws, catching Ming's thigh.

[Novice Combat Pants Durability -1]

[Novice Combat Pants Durability Depleted, Shattered]

Ming, still mid-air, felt a sudden chill on his lower body as his pants shattered into hundreds of pieces.

His pants... were destroyed.

When pants lost their durability, they'd indeed explode, meaning equipment durability was used to absorb damage.

Ming landed, rolling and aiming his crossbow at the female zombie. The shattered fabric fell on her head, obstructing her vision as she frantically waved her arms to clear the debris.

Meanwhile, the charged arrow's cooldown ended. Ming activated the skill, and a faint blue light enveloped the crossbow.

Fire!

Ming pulled the trigger, and the arrow imbued with blue light hit the elite female zombie right in the chest, activating the immobilizing effect. He quickly stood up, loaded more arrows, and shot them repeatedly at the female zombie's head.

Multiple shots turned the female zombie's head into a porcupine!

[Elite Zombie Killed - Kaka Teeth Woman: Experience +50, Apocalypse Coins +42, Added to Achievement Quest]

[Chapter One Personal Achievement: Kill 5 Elite Mutated Creatures Progress: 1/5]

Ming breathed a sigh of relief after finally defeating the zombie. Its name, Kaka Teeth Woman, was quite fitting.

A notification sounded, triggering Da Vinci's[Unexpected Delight], increasing the drop rate.

Four beams of light appeared two white and two green.

"A green !" Ming's fatigue lifted when he saw the green light.

Just then, a breeze reminded him that his pants had exploded. He felt quite cold.

He picked up the four cards. The first white card:[Durability Repair Card, Single-use Item]

The second white card:[Spiked Trap: Set the trap in your desired location. Any target passing by will trigger the trap]

"Spiked trap?"

Ming examined the second card. It could be very useful.

The third green card:

[D*Minor *Staff]

[Physique +3]

[Strength +1]

[Agility +1]

[Spirit +10]

[Top-quality Attribute: Increase damage by 2% when casting ice-related abilities]

Ming hissed, surprised to find a staff with a top-quality attribute that increased damage. However, it required specific skills, making it somewhat impractical.

Moreover, his specialization wasn't focused on magic. He decided to keep it for now, as it might come in handy later.

Ming then picked up the fourth green card:

[D*Versatile*Combat Pants]

[Physique +3]

[Strength +3]

[Agility +3]

[Spirit +1]

[Top-quality Attribute: Increase all attributes by 2%]

"What a great pair of pants!"

"Finally, I don't have to go bare anymore."

Ming immediately put on the pants. They were pure black, with two pockets on each side of the thighs. The bottom of the pants had Velcro straps to tighten the cuffs, preventing sand and dirt from getting in and providing some insulation from the cold.

The most amazing aspect of these pants was their top-quality attribute. Unlike his battle armor, which only increased his constitution percentage, these pants increased the percentage of all his attributes. Although it was only 2%, it was still much better than the novice combat pants.

Heehee~ At this moment, a sound came from behind Ming.
