Chapter 4: A Day Off
Alex woke up on Monday morning feeling rested and rejuvenated. He had spent the weekend exploring his new body and getting used to his newfound strength and agility. He had even signed up for a self-defense class at the local gym, eager to learn more about what his new body was capable of.
But as he got ready for the day, he realized that he had a problem. He had taken the day off from school, hoping to relax and recharge, but he had forgotten to tell anyone. He wasn't sure how he was going to explain his absence, and he didn't want to raise any suspicion.
As he sat at the breakfast table, trying to come up with a plan, his phone rang. It was his mom, calling to check in.
"Hey, honey," she said. "How was your first week at your new school?"
"It was good," Alex replied, trying to keep his voice casual. "I made some new friends and I'm really enjoying my classes."
"That's great," his mom said. "I'm glad you're settling in. So, I noticed that you're not in school today. Is everything okay?"
Alex hesitated, trying to come up with a plausible excuse. "Yeah, everything's fine," he said. "I just needed a day to catch up on some things. You know, get organized and stuff."
"Okay," his mom said, sounding a little skeptical. "Well, just make sure you don't fall behind. And if you need anything, don't hesitate to call."
Alex hung up the phone, relieved that he had gotten off the hook. He decided to spend the day exploring his neighborhood and getting to know his new surroundings. He had always been a little shy and introverted, but his new body seemed to give him a confidence and energy that he had never known before.
As he walked through the streets, he noticed that people were staring at him again. He wasn't sure if it was because he was new or because he looked so different, but he didn't mind. He was starting to enjoy the attention, and he was eager to see where it would take him.
As the day went on, Alex found himself getting into all sorts of adventures. He climbed a tree in the park, rode his bike through the woods, and even tried his hand at skateboarding. He was having the time of his life, and he couldn't wait to see what the rest of the week would bring.
As the sun began to set, Alex headed back home, feeling satisfied and content. He had spent the day exploring and discovering new things about himself, and he was excited to see what else his new body was capable of. He knew that this was just the beginning of his journey, and he was ready for whatever came next.
